McGary had a ruptured disc in his back breh, he's on borrowed time.

At the very least Young looks like he could have a long career just being a physical garbage man.

5 seasons of McGary > 10 seasons of Patrick Young

Jarnell Stokes is also a MUCH better option

He hasn't played in a year though, big risk considering he wasn't all that athletic to begin with.

He could be like Cole Aldrich now :ld: I sure as hell wouldn't take McGary in the first round, that's a guaranteed roster spot and money :whoa:

Mitch McGary can pass, handle and shoot plus he is much wider/stronger than Cole Aldrich which lets him carve out space and box out very effectively.

Nene,Varejao, David Lee... all injury prone, all good comparisons for McGary. People are overthinking this.

Aldrich was taller, longer and more athletic though.

None of those guys you named had disc injuries in their backs though, I wouldn't burn a first round pick on a dude with a back injury as severe as the one he had, especially when they haven't played in a year. He had surgery on his back, that's never a good thing.

I can see why someone would take Young before him, just less of a risk.

Mitch McGary is highly skilled, Aldrich has no skills

Even Stokes is stronger, much younger, has a face up game, has a post up game and is a much better rebounder

We will just have to disagree :manny:

Stokes is awkwardly built, but he's a rebounding machine.

McGary on the other hand, back injury and he wasn't smart enough to stay off that weed. Besides, he's practically a 22 year old sophomore.

Stokes is the strongest player in the draft and it isn't close.

I don't see any of your points negating McGary as an NBA player.

Why would you take Patric Young over Mitch McGary or Jarnell Stokes? :dead:
He also is a better UD(who is beloved). Also is a defensive minded player first & can rebound. Heat dont need a McGary who is a better offensive player. Also Young wont play that much & will come in & know his roll.

You haven't seen Patrick Young play if you think he is a better UD.

he is a more athletic UD. Doesnt have a jumper like UD. But im talking more about hustle & heart. They arent the most gifted players but they grind. Which is what Pat will love about Young.

He has some skill, but I also don't see him being much better than what he is (and I'm just gonna assume his back makes him able to at least be a serviceable 4.) He's ehh on D. He's agile for a guy his size, but I don't see where the improvement will come.

A healthy McGary goes top 25. A full season of McGary goes top 20 maybe. Neither of these things happened. He has to go to a team that won't need to play him a lot because I think he can go to a team like San Antonio, pick up the playbook and assert himself seamlessly. On a bad team, he may not fix his weaknesses.

Stokes and Young are similar to me only I think Stokes will rebound more, but Young can be an energy boost for a team defensively.

And Stokes has a face up game and post up game plus being 2 years younger. He is also wider and stronger. Teams sent 2 and 3 men to box him out, Patrick Young didn't demand that kind of respect.
