15. Atlanta Hawks- Kyle Anderson, F, UCLA
Probably the most unique player in this draft. Has superstar skills with old man athleticism. It's effective and it gives Atlanta a second set of eyes to facilitate. The jumper is coming around as well.
16. Chicago Bulls- Elfrid Payton, G, Louisiana-Lafayette
2 years of an injured Derrick Rose has to convince management to have a solid plan B. Payton provides tough nosed defense and PG skills that can allow Rose to play off the ball if need be.
17. Boston Celtics- James Young, G, Kentucky
Young over the Euro bigs here because of Avery Bradley's RFA status and due to the selection of Aaron Gordon. They'd be a little light on wings.
Young is streaky but can be molded into an excellent pro with time.
18. Phoenix Suns- Zach LaVine, G, UCLA #14 Bothell, WA
I think this is as low as LaVine can go. He's the workout warrior of 2014, physically gifted but has yet to put it all together. Phoenix can afford to wait.
19. Chicago Bulls- Jusuf Nurkic, C, Bosnia
If Nurkic comes over now he becomes great insurance fror Joakim Noah in case of injury. If not, it's a great Euro stash while saving money to make a run at Carmelo Anthony.
20. Toronto Raptors- K.J. McDaniels, F, Clemson
I had Tyler Ennis pegged here up until now. I figured at least one of Kyle Lowry or Greivis Vazquez will be retained. KJ McDaniels is a late bloomer but his defense can very much help Toronto as his offensive game continues to grow.
21. Oklahoma City Thunder- Clint Capela, C, Switzerland
I had OKC picking Kristaps Porzingis but he surprisingly withdrew his name from the draft. The Thunder can stash Capela away, D-League him or make him the backup to Steven Adams going forward.
22. Memphis Grizzlies- T.J. Warren, F, North Carolina State
With Tayshaun Prince and Mike Miller getting long in the tooth, the Grizzlies can add a player who can score from anywhere on the court. He's a late bloomer, but he can score with the best of them, and while the Grizzlies are built on defense, this is a move made to appease their coach Dave Joerger.
23. Utah Jazz- P.J. Hairston, G, Texas Legends
If the Houston Rockets showed us anything when Troy Daniels shot the 3 well in the playoffs, it's that if you can shoot the three well in D-League, it should translate well to the NBA. PJ should be no exception to that as he should add more outside shooting to go with McDermott while freeing up the bigs.
24. Charlotte Hornets- Cleanthony Early, F, Wichita State
This is probably worst case scenario with guys like Warren, Hairston and McDaniels all coming off the board. Early is a mid range shooter who can step in right away, a theme among Bobcats draft picks. He can come in if they need more offense than Michael Kidd-Gilchrist can provide.
25. Houston Rockets- Tyler Ennis, G, Syracuse #11
With Jeremy Lin having one year left on his contract, the Rockets could look towards Ennis to help stabilize the second unit (or even the starting lineup given Beverley's shaky health) moving forward. He has a knack for hitting the big shot and assuming leadership as he did at Syracuse.
26. Miami Heat- Shabazz Napier, G, Connecticut #13
With the entire franchise in flux, the Heat have to get younger, more athletic and tougher. It seems as if Mario Chalmers' time with the Heat is coming to an end, so it's only right that the Heat replace a former National Champion with a current one hoping for similar or even better results from the PG position.
27. Phoenix Suns- Bogdan Bogdanovic, G, Serbia #13
The Suns won't use every pick in this draft. This is where the draft gets decidedly Euro as the Suns pick the 2014 Euroleague Rising Star. He may even come over right away if the Suns make room, but he may stay one more season at Partizan. Either way, the Suns get a major bargaining chip down the line.
28. Los Angeles Clippers- Spencer Dinwiddie, G, Colorado #25
In my opinion, the biggest sleeper in this draft. If not for an ACL injury, he may be a lottery pick. This kid can shoot, defend, and even play some PG as well. He should go higher and can make a major impact provided he's back to full health (he'll be 100% by the time the season starts). Wouldn't surprise me if he made an All-Rookie team.
29. Oklahoma City Thunder- Jordan Adams, G, UCLA #3
This is an interesting pick because I think it puts major pressure on Jeremy Lamb to step up now. If Lamb stalls and Adams contributes, it will lessen the need to keep Lamb around. Also, there's no guarantee that Thabo Sefolosha returns.
30. San Antonio Spurs- Jarnell Stokes, F, Tennessee #5
The World Champion Spurs have had an amazing run developing prospects. Stokes helps the Spurs out on the boards and can be disruptive on defense with his 7'1'' wingspan. I thought about the Spurs taking a PG in case Patty Mills cashes in on his postseason, but Cory Joseph could also reclaim his spot as backup PG.
