I don't see Embiid dropping out the top 5, though. Either one of the top 5 teams will take him or someone will trade up to get him

If they were in love with Parker or Wiggins we wouldn't hear anything about deals like this floating.
You gonna hear deals regardless, question is, are Cleveland the ones initiating these talks? Nah. Teams either throwing out bait or red herrings to get the Cavs to bite.

With only one day remaining until the NBA draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers' ownership and front office remain torn on whether to select Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker with the top overall pick, multiple sources told ESPN.com.

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert favors drafting Wiggins with the No. 1 pick after the former Kansas star's terrific workout last Wednesday, according to multiple sources.

However, the majority of the Cavs' front office -- including new general manager David Griffin -- is leaning toward selecting Parker, sources said

They say down for 'three hours' yesterday, solely discussing who to pick - Wiggins or Parker. Doesn't really sound like they aren't in 'love' with them, but more like they're 'fighting' over which one to take.

I think Milwaukee made a mistake by publicly showing their interest in Parker. All that has done is drove the up trade value for the Cavs and the #1 pick. Many teams want Parker ASAP

The Magic and Jazz deals are better if Embiid goes earlier than 6, but if the Cavs can get one of the Nets picks that trade blows both out the water.

What's important about the Nets pick? I doubt that pick will bring in a better talent than favors or affalo...the nets should be one of those 7-8 seed playoff teams.

It seems as if some of the brehs are forgetting that favors is only 22-23 locked into a decent contract is still improving...and that burk is also young and improving...then you have 5/23. If Embiid makes it past Philly and Orlando I do that trade ASAP.

But I'd also take the magic deal also.

How is it better? Who would you want at 4 that you can't get at 6? If Embiid makes it out the top three, he'll slip til 6th anyways... Plus the 8th pick >>>>>>> the 12th pick

You will get Embiid or Exum at 4. Exum won't be there after the first four picks and there's no guarantee embiid is there at 6 either.

They're way over the cap, Deron Williams just had double ankle surgery and is still owed like a billion dollars, KG is retiring if not this offseason then next, Brook is injury prone, Pierce is probably gone... Livingston and Blache left... They have no cap space to do anything in free agency except trade for more bad contracts.

Owner wants to cut money now to sell the team, which was their only advantage

Nah, all reports I've read is that both dudes are essentially consolation prizes, Embiid was the player they really wanted. They tried to fly Exum out there today as well, they are torn on Wiggins and Parker because they truthfully wanted Embiid.

Here's the breakdown -

2016 Celtics get Nets unprotected pick
2017 Celtics have right to swap picks with Nets
2018 Celtics get Nets unprotected pick

Basically those are going to be golden draft picks.

Did you not see Marcus Smart snatch Exum's soul in that USA v. Australia game?

Exum rolled his ankle, even still one game isn't enough to hurt Exum's stock, especially since he was 17 at the time and Smart was 19.

Exum will struggle next year, no doubt about it, still has a gang of potential.

The #1 pick is clearly there for a team if they really want it. This nikka still arguing otherwise. :camby:

I want Embiid on the team but I want more assets then to just take him at 1.

Is it Parker or wiggins that these teams are trying to select...I figure we just take the one the most teams want and then trade if either the magic or jazz get Embiid.

Because unless the magic decide they rather have smart/vonleah/randle over Embiid they may just take him.
