The hype is that even if he can't play PG, he has the handle to be a combo guard that can run your offense. The last couple years most of the SG prospects coming into the league are around 6'3" and can barely dribble, so when one comes along at 6'6" that has a handle and tells you he wants to be a PG people take notice.
He's not an explosive leaper, but he is athletic, laterally he was among the best tested at the combine. Also, I believe he's the 3rd youngest prospect in the draft. I think his first year is going to be awful to be honest, but he's so young that any team taking him should have patience. Chad Ford made a great point, he said last year everyone was saying Giannis wouldn't come over when he was drafted and he only looked good cause he was playing against bums, where as the Bucks felt the only way for him to improve and realize his potential was to bring him over immediately.
Well see it just seems people who played college we see them and their weaknesses all the time while the mysseious foreign guy we didnt see his warts
As far as Giannis is he really that good or is it more a case of him as a novelty with his name his story and the fact that he came from maybe the worst draft ever so if he turn out to be evne halfway decent its probably as good as anyone from the draft
