LSU sophomore wide receiver Tyron Johnson tweeted Thursday he is transferring.

Johnson, who prepped at Warren Easton High School, played in nine games and caught nine passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns last season.

LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette confirmed Johnson's decision and said the school has given him a release.

Johnson was the state's top-rated recruit in the 2015 class and had moved up to the No. 3 receiver spot last season. But he fell behind D.J. Chark for that role behind starters Travin Dural and Malachi Dupre.

He becomes the fourth LSU scholarship wide receiver to transfer since the end of last season. John Diarse, Kevin Spears , and Trey Quinn have each departed. Diarse transferred to TCU and Quinn to SMU.
