I truly don't understand why people say Markelle is a good fit with Boston but Lonzo isn't. Why isn't Lonzo a good fit with Boston? It's not like he's ball dominant

He's not ball dominant but he has to be in order to get points for the most part. Fultz is a lot better off ball and at creating for himself with the ball in his hands.

Lonzo is a good fit in Boston, Fultz is just a better fit and player.

Checking in from vacation.

I'll have a mock on Sunday and of course the final mock Thursday afternoon.

I've been getting info here and there but family first.

I'll read through this thread to see where the mock draft is

You see I think that's a misconception. I think Fultz is the better player but I don't think he's better off the ball or a better fit for Boston. I think Lonzo is fantastic off the ball. I think Fultz needs the ball in his hands more than Ball. Some Philly writers a few weeks ago had a 3 piece write up explaining why he thinks Lonzo is actually a 2 guard and it's really interesting. I'll try to find it.

Did he even work out for anybody but the Suns?

Any news on DSJ and JJ?
He refused to work out for any non top 5 team because he felt sure he'd go top 5

DSJ is the workout warrior of the draft. I think Orlando is hoping Isaac goes to Phoenix so DSJ is an academic pick at 6.

I don't believe any JJ to LA rumor. He'll go to Philly and they'll figure it out.

I'll try to summarize my thoughts about this as clearly as possible. I'm not that good at organizing my thoughts in these long winded replies.

As I have already stated, I don't believe Lonzo is going to be a superstar player, and even with that thought I'm still fine with him going top 3. I know @Poitier shares some of these sentiments too.

With that said, this article covers a lot of things that I've already brought up. Firstly, the inflated assist numbers. This was the main reason I was so low on Lonzo at the start of the season, but I quickly realized that it was a non-issue as he showcased his passing ability time after time. Most of those inflated numbers came from plays on the break where he'd just hand it off to TJ for a dunk when nobody on the other team was around.

And my biggest complaint with Lonzo critics is the overstatement of his PnR game not being good. People are saying he's bad out of the PnR but all of their examples are of Lonzo not having a mid-range jumper or being able to create his own shot. That is not showcasing his inability to run the PnR. They also like to look at advanced stats or footage early in the season and say he is too turnover prone out of the PnR, which is not only false but also unfair. Then the author even admits himself that he's comparing Lonzo to all-time greats such as Nash and CP3, which makes him look even worse.

So what it really comes down to is his handling and lack of mid-range jumper. The two things I've brought up a lot. They both limit him in the half court. Teams don't have to worry about going under a screen to limit Lonzo from driving. It's the opposite of Fox, teams don't have to respect his jumper so they can cheat screens and his opportunities to attack the rim will see a noticeable decrease at the next level.

I have no knocks on his passing ability or vision which are both clearly elite. And I've also said I feel both LA and Philly are great situations because they both possess other players who can take the burden off him in the half court (Russell and Simmons).

And to your original point, Lonzo certainly has great IQ off of the ball, just not the skills to make use of it. Fultz can play either position at very high level. Lonzo would look like a second round draft pick at the 2.

CAMDEN, N.J. — Malik Monk is regarded as the best shooter in the 2017 draft. Don't label him as only that when he enters the NBA.

"I think I can do both, combo, on and off the ball," Monk said Thursday following with his workout for the Sixers.

...

"I think the hope is that you can grow him. At his size, he's got to be a combo," vice president of basketball administration and 87ers general manager Brandon Williams said. "Particularly in today's NBA, you need players that can play multiple positions. So beyond the shooting is how much of shot creation for others does he have in his game."

"Not that many people have seen my passing abilities," Monk said. "I think they're pretty good. I get people involved just like people can get me involved."

If Philly really believes he can develop his PG skills significantly I wouldn't be too surprised to see him go at 3. There are a lot of opportunities to trade down too.
