Richt was getting like top 10 classes, but nothing physically imposing in the trenches like Smart. Smart’s worst class there would be Richt’s best

:dahell:

Why do you think Richt ran the pro-set all those years?

UGA's problem was never physicality.

It was lack of mental toughness. Losing games they shouldn't lose, choking against teams of equal talent.

You are seeing a similar thing (not to that degree) with Kirby.

Richt did not recruit offensive line anywhere close to Kirby. He had the same problem in Miami.

Richt's problem was that his coaching methods wouldn't work at Miami like it did in UGA.

Talent and recruiting advantages were much different. :yeshrug:

Richt got fired from UGA because everyone knew he was sitting on a goldmine of talent and yet was rarely in the discussion for National championships.

There was no rebuild for Kirby when he got there. His job was to put them over the top. He almost did until he choked the NC game against Bama. Then did the same in the SEC game against Bama the following year.

:what:

That’s disingenuous to discount Richts talent he brought to Athens, and his front 7 were imposing, he kept a lineman that went to the league, but since you said line I’ll give you a couple since you seem to forget keep in mind all decent draft picks and sec accolades so they had to be doing something

Geno Atkins
David Andrew
Ben Jones
Gordy Glenn
John Stinchcomb
Max gene-gillis
David Pollack

That’s not including all the linebackers who were studs that stayed close to the line of scrimmage :martin:

Dude was getting sonned by USC and LSU just like this, UT also was able to hang with them back then and (for a myriad of reasons) that’s obviously not the case now. No one has been able to consistently break down UGA’s OL since Kirby got there. There’s not a single season this decade where Richt had UGA looking like the best OL in college

I wouldn’t say mental toughness so much so as two buzz saws in urban and Sababan

See my above post he got damn decent o line, because o line was never the issue, it was richt had the dumb luck of coming up against two hall of fame coaches in urban and saban and it’s plenty of coaches who could not get over that hump, talent doesn’t get you a chip, but things going your way, and decent coordinators, he’s Dabo without the chips honestly, richt had a lot more acumen with football than Dabo i believe

He got sonned because of coaching, not talent.

Never said there was a rebuild for Kirby. I said he recruits far better than Richt does.

No ones saying it was the problem, we’re saying that Kirby just did it on another level bro lol
