It’s the same reason why David Shaw, Pat Fitzgerald, and David Cutcliffe will keep their jobs until they retire or go to the next level (barring a scandal or a winless season). There’s stability there, and every once in a while they will have one of the best seasons in school history, why fukk that up? The nerd schools have the most realistic expectations out of anyone in college athletics.

Yep...every 3-4 years there's a few good seasons once the youngins grow into redshirt juniors and seniors and then they leave and the struggle for another few years happens and the cycle continues. Duke's never winning a football natty title unless they go balls deep with supporting football financially so whatever they're getting outta Cutcliffe...cherish it and roll with it.
