They have the money. The Board of Trustees gave up on football. You can't take 10 years off and think it's going to turn around overnight. They'll be satisfied with a program that is occasionally great.

The football team will always be at a financial disadvantage because the BOT will not them have the cash to be great again.

They have money, Miami not hurting, they choose not to spend the bread, also I’ve heard several people speak on how particular it is recruiting around Miami, with following through on offers, or risk getting froze out, you have no choice but to pay to get talent in there, because every program worth a damn is in the city and surrounding areas working to get them kids too, but when there is no quiet or loud money to get these kids the program suffers and here we are, Manuel is not a great coach, they need to get on their knees and beg Butch Davis to come back and get that old thang back

Even if Butch would come back, would he have the same pull and persona to get the back to late 90s early 00s swagger and excellence . These kids don't care about what you did in the past, they want to know what can you bring to them today.

I think if D'Eriq went to a scheme that knew how to optimize everything around a DT QB, a lot of the passing aspects would've been better. I could expound on that, but just look at everything Miami doesn't do that the great ones do. No edge blocking, WRs are piss poor at blocking and don't seem to do anything well when a play breaks. So many times, D'Eriq tries to scramble outside and he's met with 3+ defenders

This program just doesn't optimize 1 out of the 2 aspects he should be doing pretty well

I think they need someone who knows the current game moreso than someone who knows what an elite Miami resembles. Richt didn't know either, and Manny only knows the latter (he really just knows the flashy aspects, and not the substantive, program building parts of it, but).

I think they would be behooved to just get a young, fresh face and hope he can be organically cool, in a way that isn't "The U" type. A Scott Frost before the Nebraska atrocity or maybe even a Marcus Freeman

I say butch because he knew how the sausage was made so he will do what he has to, to get kids, these kids don’t know anyone yet they show up on campuses all over not named Bama, and he knew how to deal with the admin and had great relationships in south Florida, just gotta get good coordinators
