theo left because he believes 10 years at one job is enough. The cubs offered bryant & Baez extensions( bryant 220-250)they both turned them down. Rizzo turned down his offer this year
the wrigleyville renovations were paid out of pocket by the owner & according to him went 100% over the budget & cost a billion which is why they stopped spending.the cubs were top 5 in payroll for 5 years they just underperformed so they cut back to recoup dough ,the pandemic season with no fans was another excuse to cut back.
now the cubs have like 40 mil on the payroll going into next season, revamped the farm & fans are irate so they’re gonna spend. Nobody gonna watch this aaaa squad get washed on marquee , I think Baez could be back nobody is giving him a crazy contract the cubs can spend 50-70 mil on payroll & still be no where near the cbt & with the cba expiring don’t know what the new cba will have as far as that cbt. Cubs will be back soon

they probably will have to overpay but Giants aint paying nobody right now anyway. I think Longoria is literally the only person on the book past 2023 right now. (Crawford after extension) so really he wont be hampering or preventing them from making moves in the future.

theres literally 0 way they dont go hard to sign him. he is literally the example of what Zaidi is trying to build
