Now, once Riley arrived did he compliment their skill sets? Of course. Nobody ever said he's not a really good play caller. And if he drops his ego he can be great. But IF/WHEN he does that, he'll be doing things OU fans wanted him to do for a long time.
Jalen Hurts could NOT throw a deep ball at OU. Riley lost all confidence in him doing that, and by mid-season he tured him into designed qb runs or check option to Lamb every play. What he's doing now in the NFL is not Riley's doing. Every OU fan is truly surprised by his performances bc he couldn't throw deep at all.
He ruined Rattler though. And Caleb is amazing. He didn't fully know the offense when he came in against Texas. That's just how amazing he is

From what we've seen at SoCar, Rattler is just bad and built a rep off feasting on shytty comp in AZ in HS. Some players are just uncoachable and he strikes me as the type.

He had receivers at OU and still got benched or threw them out of or away games. Arm talents there, and that's about it. The scheme isn't too far from what OU ran since Beamer is from it. He's just not good. We got 3-4 years of evidence proving this. He'll give you a game or two but that's all he's got.
Speaking of OU defense, not sure what the defensive stats are the first 2 seasons of Lincoln's tenure but the last three, they increased big time causing INTs, sacks per game, and rush defense once Grinch took over. Their total defense rankings was in the top third in the country during that time.
