I don’t think there’s any HC candidate list that’s valid for Auburn at this moment, but the wishes are some combination of Grimes, Aranda, Sanders, Monken and Freeze from what I’ve seen. Grimes is pretty much the lay up, you should be able to get him at any point. Freeze was and is the divider - last search, a faction did not want that guy, and I don’t believe the trustees have changed in membership since then.
My brain would tell me that they collect a Tier 1 of candidates and if that fails, that’s where you get to Hugh. I don’t think Hugh was in 1 or 2 last go around.

I think any Auburn fan approaching this cycle with X and Os, unproven recruiters on top of their lists ain’t pay enough attention in my opinion. Auburn schemed well vs UGA last year, didn’t have the dudes. I think Penn St outschemed and coached us, talent was prolly even. Schemed well vs LSU, Ark and Ole Miss, but had more (on the field) talent than all 3. We were so shallow though, that literally one injury threw that great scheming into the dirt. Looked completely incompetent and just weaker than some bad teams down the stretch
