It was always gonna be LA his family is situated there he doesnt wanna up root it....they just needed to have a competitive offer.
I just don't think he's realistically considering Toronto, even though Ohtani and Gausman is one hell of a 1-2 punch in the rotation.

Hes not considering anything outside LA as long as theyre in the ballpark offer wise...he wasnt considering Chicago or East Coast.
He doesnt wanna move his parents out of LA...Ive heard he lives at his parents restaurant and doesnt wanna leave that.

his hopes and dreams

but on the real though, the Hoetani sweepstakes coulda been bigger but other than the dollar amount, it just never felt realistic that he'd leave LA.

The Yamamoto stuff has been much more intriguing

Ain't my hopes at all I'd rather they go after Soto since he's not pitching....but I said he's staying in LA.

I'm not sure what to think about the Dodgers going forward.
They certainly need Ohtani. Because Mookie Betts is 31 years old now. And Freddie Freeman is 34. Both are still elite. You just start to get concerned once guys get into those age 33-35 years of their career. Often the drop can come quickly.

I think for LA, they were hoping to get a lot more out of Miguel Vargas, who hit just .195 last season in 81 games. He's only 23 but this guy...as patient as he is at the plate, just hasn't put it all together. And he should. He's a big dude that should be cranking out 30 homers a year.

Gavin Lux got hurt and they hoped he'd turn a corner. So that didn't happen either.
Same with Dustin May.

Will Smith is one of the best offensive catchers in the game, but he's coming up on 29 years old and has 1 or 2 years of arbitration left. He's a guy that could get traded because I don't know that the Dodgers are going to want to offer a big contract to a catcher that's over 30.

Lux looked great before injury it's not like he's a bust. Hopefully he picks up where he left off

Rest of that I don't see any cause for concern. Yeah Mookie & Freddie are up there it is what it is. Until they fall off they're world beaters that crash into the world for whatever reason in the offs

Dodgers shedded salary while still keeping the core intact at just the right time to get Ohtani & maybe one other or 2-3 other big names this window, to go along with a top farm system. I don't know of many situations better than ours lol

Is Ohtani even pitching next yr? How exactly do you rehab an elbow injury while swinging a bat? What exactly is his availability? These teams still haven't learned about these huge mlb contracts
