When you're a kid, you think other fans hate the Yankees because they're jealous of their winning.

And maybe in the 1950s when they were winning 8 out of every 10 world series...it might have been true.

These days I think fans around the country look at the Yankees with disgust. Envious of the Yankees resources, but pitying how carelessly they squander it.

There are franchises in MLB that could build dynasties with Yankee money.

Went into 2022 with roughly $120 million tied up in DJ Lemahieu, Anthony Rizzo, Joey Gallo, Aaron hicks, Aroldis Chapman, IKF, Zack Britton, and Josh Donaldson. Went into this year with 35 year old broken down DJ and Oswaldo Cabrera coming off a .275 OBP and .299 slugging percentage in 2023 as his options for third base and 35 year old Anthony Rizzo coming off a concussion and not having hit even .250 since 2019 as his first baseman. Was counting on rookie prospect Austin wells and career backup with a .240 average and .280 OBP and noodle arm Jose Trevino at catcher. Was counting on Giancarlo Stanton to stay in the lineup despite missing 113 games over 2022 and 2023. Was counting on Anthony Volpe to make a massive leap after striking out nearly 25% of his at bats and hitting .209 with a .289 OBP last year. Was counting on a massive bounce back from Alex Verdugo after hitting .225 with a .275 OBP after the all star break last year. He needed to go 10-14 years ago.

Imagine Tampa’s GM or Theo Epstein with this budget.

Foley got squeezed on a couple of pitches but got the save. Look at the Tigers not being out right terrible :russ: A Maeda performance away from taking the first three

If they drafted Langford and signed ANYBODY besides Maeda, they'd be over .500. If they had added a real player on top of that (JD, Chapman, etc.), they'd be in the WC mix.

Moniak homered tonight but I'm sad the Angels have to play him.

He's one of the worst #1 picks in a long time.

Detroit's putting a beating on Cleveland. :picard:

Looks like those back injections worked on Flaherty. I'll be mad if they trade him. They should be trying to extend him.
