I'm probably taking that deal if I'm Konnor Griffin.

He just needs to accept the fact that the Pirates will NEVER sign even a moderately talented free agent.
Get your money, but don't expect to win.

Also, I hope he's got a smart finance guy to grow that money.

On the other hand...if the people around him really think he's going to be a superstar...Juan Soto got 700M at age 26 or whatever. So in theory if Griffin has Soto, or even Tatis-level ceiling...it could be worth it to wait.

I don't think Griffin stays at SS. He's just too big and as he fills out, he will outgrow the position.
He's also unlikely to remain a major base-stealing threat for long, even if he's good at it (see: Mike Trout).

What's gonna sting Griffin is that he probably signs the extension, then watches the Pirates allow Paul Skenes to walk...

Not a bad deal for somebody who hasn't made their debut yet.

Buys out the team control years and a few years after that, and he'll still be young enough for a big time free agent contract afterwards.

It’s only bad if hes the next Arod

True but I'd still take that contract. The odds of him getting sent back to the minors in the next 2 to 3 years are greater than an Arod/Juan Soto blockbuster contract. At least he'll have financial security if he ends up hurt in an accident or if he doesn't live up to the hype.

its all relative, most guys dont make it or live up to the hype, if hes the next arod pitts is sitting pretty cause he willingly gave up those fa years. seems like teams are more then willing to risk 100 mill because fa is kinda of out of control

I’m starting to really actually believe k the direction this new management is going with. The franchise hasn’t been this accountable in years. We’ve been discussing this onthe Anaya board but we didn’t think they had the gall to actually do this. It’s the right move. It’s more deserving players who deserve the time up in the majors playing over him. Daylen Lile continues to build upon his rookie campaign and show us what he got.

Hulu just added the cubs network :ohlawd:

Last season I had to use a family member xfinity log in to access marquee app and stream games on my tv smfh

App use to be crashing & freezing mid game. Now I can watch on Hulu :krs:

I always think how many players all time stats get screwed by this

Imagine Willie Mays having to wait 2-3 years to get a full time spot cuz of shyt like this

not that it really matters since I have T-Mobile and I can access the games that way, but do out of towners have access to the Cubs network or do I gotta cop something extra to get it?

From what I’ve seen for out of town cubs fans the network is accessible whether mlbtv or marquee. The cubs fans in Chicago are the ones who can’t watch:why:
