Why not just promote one of the 40-50 coaches already on staff….

Fair but probably came down to knowing it was inevitably a interim position and not feeling comfortable promoting any of Taylor's guys given the circumstances.

Plus Luck has a pre-existing relationship with Reich. Likely trusts him as a conduit and evaluator of the program.

I get that but you still want to have success this season. College isn’t like pro sports, There’s never a positive to wasting/tanking a year.

On what grounds is the NCAA disallowing joint-spring practices? and why?

If two schools want to scrimmage wtf is the harm in that? "secret scrimmages" and scrimmages happen all the time in hoops between major programs, why couldn't football do it?
