It's for casuals mostly. It does help even with actual fans too, particularly for non big name brands, or ACC/Big 12 schools... For example, I probably wouldn't tune into NC State vs Virginia in september but if it's labeled #17 NC State vs. #13 UVA I'll have more interest.

Playoff rankings the only ones that actually matter and those haven't come out yet.
