As Swinney said a couple of weeks ago, he’d rather win the right way than lose knowing he’d done wrong.

Despite the disappointment of a 5-5 record, he’s come out of this season believing, more than ever, he needs to trust his own “instincts” to save Clemson.

One thing is clear, though: Swinney isn’t asking any current players to leave so he can bring in more transfers when the portal opens on Jan. 2.

“As long as a kid does what he's supposed to do here, he's going to have an opportunity to graduate from Clemson. That's just the way it is,” Swinney said. “It will always be that way as long as I'm gonna be the head coach.”

“If a kid comes to Clemson, he's a good kid, he's not a good enough player,” Swinney added, “that's on us.”
