Friend, shotguns should be reserved for tight areas, or places with lots of cover. We running around the middle of Sinai with the shottie out? No wonder you think they're trash.

They are though, you can do serious work with them clearing out houses, or ambushing dudes on paths. If you out in the open though you're food, and you should be.

Fam this is WW1. The game functionally couldnt and shouldn't be like BF4. Look at the conditions ur playing in. Learn the maps. And adjust.
Use smoke, use gas, use the shotgun in combination with them. You should never just be out in the open with a shottie by yourself, that shyt is a death sentence.

The fact remains they nerfed shotguns for one reason only. Because whoever made that choice is probably an assault rifle friend from Previous titles. They listened to the cries of the casuals who said im tired of being killed by shotguns from 25 yards.
Look at the drop off damage.
