Don't even matter because.........
It's been over 4 years since we've had two Black men fighting for a heavyweight world title..........

It's been over 8 years since we've had two Black men from North America fighting for a heavyweight world title...........

It still matters to me, dammit :to:

He damn sure hasn't taken the type of punches to prepare for it.

or went the type of rounds to prepare for it. He's never even been past 4 rounds.

Listen, I don't care how hard you punch, there is always some stubborn ass opponent out there who will take it & keep coming.

I like Wilder man, but i hate seeing a career managed like this.

In disappointing news to boxing fans, Leo Santa Cruz did not take Guillermo Rigondeaux's offer to fight him on short notice on 1/17, and he will not be fighting a top contender either. Instead he will be taking on Jesus Ruiz (33-5-5, 22KOs) who is ranked 30th in the world at Bantamweight. Jesus Ruiz has a loss on his record against Paulino Villalobos who was (27-39-2) at the time that they fought. Out of Ruiz' last 4 fights only one of them was a 12 round fight. 2 of them were 8 round fights and one of them was just a 6th round fight.
.
But, 30th ranked is actually a huge step up in competition considering Leo's last opponent Manuel Roman (17-2-3) was ranked #91 and had never fought in a professional 12th round fight before.
.
Santa Cruz vs Ruiz will take place Jan. 17th (Showtime, 10 p.m. ET) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and serve as the co-feature on Stiverne vs Wilder.
.
It's a shame to see someone as talented at Santa Cruz fighting these mismatches. This will be his second warm up fight, and the question is why? Santa Cruz has never looked bad in the ring, he never lost. So why are we getting these horrible mismatches from him? And why is the WBC allowing champions like Santa Cruz, Garcia, and Stevenson to keep defending their titles against B and C level fighters? Boxing fans deserve better than this.

Bermane Stiverne: "I've seen Deontay Wilder get more than just dropped in the gym"

On Saturday, January 17, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, the first Haitian born Heavyweight Champion, Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs), will make his first title defense against undefeated American puncher Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs).

With less than a month remaining until the highly anticipated event, the title challenger is currently listed as the slight betting favorite and has been exuding champion-like confidence with every interview conducted by the always inquisitive boxing media.

During a recent discussion with fight scribe Rodney Green, the reigning WBC champ admitted that he's never been an advocate of customary pre-fight banter.

"He can talk trash, but that's all it is...trash," stated Bermane Stiverne.

"I'm pretty much boring when it comes to trash talk. I don't get involved with any of that. But when you come to the fights, I give you all of the excitement you expect to see."

"But if I did speak up, it wouldn't be just trash talk."

The 36 year old title holder did more than just hint at the idea that Wilder doesn't possess the sturdiest chin in the division.

"I have four different videos of sparring sessions that show him getting dropped on his a$$. I could play his game and post things like that on the different social media sites. But I'm not like that."
"I'm not going to tell anyone where I got the tapes from...I'm not going to throw anybody under the bus. But I do have tape where he gets knocked out, and I mean seriously hurt. Not just knocked out, but hurt."

"So he can run his mouth all day. I could shut him up right now if I wanted to. But I'm not going to do that."

"B-Ware" would much rather show every fight fan exactly what he's referring to on Showtime Championship Boxing in just a few weeks.

"I want everyone to see his record and believe that he's superman coming into this fight. The only thing I will say is that you're going to see superman get defeated on January 17th."

:sas2:

There is tape of James Toney taking Gerald McClellan straight to school in a sparring session...

Where is all this footage of Wilder getting knocked on his ass. I wanna see
