Well by being the first great, must see superstar player in the league, he may be able to elevate the league. So I wouldn't quite say it's beneath him, especially since this very league got him another NBA contract/try out.

I agree with that. I think every player gets paid the same by the league but he should be the first player that gets paid more than the normal salary.
