Marrone runs a Croyell offense just like Coughlin. Hence the hire.

And lost a lot, too.

The problem with the Croyell offense is its based entirely on the ability of the QB's and WR's to make the same read. It's all option routes. The system is all boom or bust. Those INTs he's throwing in practice are more than likely off the strength of mismatched reads.

If you think Bortles can make critical reads play after play then cool, otherwise :francis:
Coughlin ran more of a heavily modified (to allow for more a run game or at least an attempt at one) run and shoot with the Giants until they made him scrap it his last two years. Same sort of principles you're getting into, but more, with all the line responsibility going on the QB too.

What Marrone ran in Buffalo, Bortles might be able to play in, but he gonna challenge Blanda and/or get sacked an ungodly amount if Tom has much scheme say. He's not football-smart or dedicated enough for it.

Whether its because he's in Jacksonville or whether its because he's white. The guy doesn't get nearly enough criticism.

Whats crazy is Kap would be perfect for that team. I don't love Marrone system for Kap, but if they're going with a ball control offense Kap would be a good option for them
