Where are you getting these facts from?
“It is now estimated to have amassed more than 1.5 million subscribers in Japan.” That means it’s impossible for any single sporting broadcast to get more than that many views at once (and that’s if all 1.5 million subscribers watched)
That is nothing.
Inoue REPLAYS get over 14 million views in the tokyo region alone.
DAZN has nothing for boxing in Japan my man, nothing.
DAZN Japan ‘doesn’t see FTA networks as competitors’, says SVP of subscription growth
What I read wasn’t about individual fight figures, it was about DAZN being the top sports broadcaster. I’ll try and find it if possible. I don’t think it was just cause of boxing, I believe it said they have some other major rights also. Was something I read in passing, will have to find it.
I do believe in Japan they have quite a lot of rights across various sports though.
Think on Wiki it has the different sports rights they have in various different countries such as Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Japan, Canada, U.S and Brazil.

Anyway, the main point I was making is DAZN isn’t restricted to just one country as in U.K, it’s in over 200 countries. It’s not just a boxing venture, it’s got various different sports in different territories.
It’s not just about any one country, it’s a global venture.
People seem to misunderstand what they are and what they are doing. I’ve spoken directly with some very high up people in DAZN across different levels of their business and their plans are not about one territory at all, furthest thing from it. It’s not about one sport either, boxing isn’t the biggest sport globally.
Across their territories they show a range of sports and entertainment from Soccer, American Football. Baseball, Basketball, UFC, Snooker, Darts, Golf, Hockey, Ice Hockey, Formula One, WWE, UFC, Rugby, Tennis and many more.
If people do some research they will see it’s more than a boxing app or in just one country. They have a global vision and ambitious plans.
I know obviously we focus on the boxing as boxing fans, but the original comment was it’s just a U.K app now, which from the information provided clearly isn’t the case.
Even in regards to boxing they are going to be doing global shows in different territories and they plan to expand boxing in different territories, some that they believe have potential for growth also along with trying to do things in the bigger markets. The pandemic was a bit disruption for them for multitude of reasons, as the world hopefully comes out of it a bit they should be able to resume more their plans.
The Matchroom deal they’ve just done is major for them, it’s a groundbreaking deal for them in U.K.
DAZN’s whole aim is to get as many subscribers around the world, they don’t really care where those subscribers come from, they want the money. They want to offer a service where they can offer value for money for a reasonable price to gain the most subscribers possible, the subscribers bring in the regular income. Almost like a Netflix for sports is what they want to become. They have some very ambitious plans in terms of some of the rights they hope to aquire and are backed by some people with extremely deep pockets. If they are committed to it they can make a big impact if they fulfill their plans. Their vision is certainly global though not one country or one sport. If anybody doesn’t understand do some some research on the different rights and sports they do in different territories and will see what I mean.
