Ward responds. Says he's not helping plant to build any buzz for a canelo fight. Also says the canelo rivalry isn't real and it only happened cause they both beat kovalev. He also said he doesn't think canelo will ever say his name. He said that same thing in the past too. Like he's low key daring canelo to call him out. Then when the interviewer told him about canelo saying they can both get in the ring he didn't really respond to it.

yea, what would be the marketability for this hypothetical Ward fight?
Canelo might as well fight Andrade for all that's worth

The appeal with Ward as the b side is that many people feel he can beat Canelo. Anytime you’re the biggest draw in boxing, there’s always going to be fans that will pay to see you lose.

Canelo/Ward is a big fight

Canelo fans are weirdos though when you suggest a fighter that can give him problems. They come up with any reason why he shouldn’t take the fight.

Canelo shouldn’t take the fight simply because he won’t get any credit if he wins - not even from me, and I’m a Canelo stan. It would have been a great fight when Ward was still active, but he’s 37 now and hasn’t fought in 4 years.

I’m a huge SOG fan, and I really hope he stays retired. He went out on top, and with all his faculties intact, one of the few fighters to do so. I’d hate to see him jeopardise that by making an ill-advised comeback.

This is exactly the bullshyt I’m taking about. Canelo has taken so many bullshyt fights throughout the years, but it’s this fight you would object to? An older Ward is still more interesting then any other fight out there.

I also don’t think Ward would just jump in the ring without being fully prepared. He would probably take multiple tuneups, the same approach he took for Kovalev.

also can’t the Stan shyt out

you’re a grown ass man

too many people on here worshipping celebrities

No need to get all emotional about it bro, I'm just stating my opinion. :yeshrug:

And those supposed "bullshyt fights" you're referring to were at least against active fighters. So yes, fighting a 37 year old who has been retired for 4 years is something I would object to.

Great matchup, this should be a good test for Timmy. Hope this is in Sydney so I can be in attendance :blessed:
I guess so, it's certainly the biggest counter puncher he's fought.

They know what they're doing with this fight though. Anybody who saw Mungiua v Inoue knows that from here on in Inoue is a broken man both physically and mentally. Took tremendous punishment and will never be the same as a result.

This is Tsyzu camp M.O. throughout his career so far for the most part.
  • Fight smaller, inexperienced fighters he can bully
  • Fight bums
  • Fight former higher achieving boxers who have been badly beaten or have lost the desire (Horn, Hogan, Inoue)
It's a smart tactic, you look good doing it and you mitigate a younger, fresher, sharper opponent.

It's not dissimilar to Canelo/Reynoso at certain points the last few years.

Tsyzu doesn't look like he juices though.
