Youre right! I almost forgot that gift decision. Im telling you, unless Haymon smartens up and starts cherry picking slow, aggressive, Mexican opponents for Broner like they did for FMJr, he will lose sooner than you think.
Proven? Lets look deeper-
1st title win against: Vicente Martin Rodriguez
2nd title win against: Antonio DeMarco
3rd title
?win? against: Paulie Malignaggi

Broner was a talented prospect who had accomplished nothing until he fought Ponce De Leon, a guy who had only lost to JuanMa (got caught early) and Caballero (tough scrap, out-boxed). De Leon was on a good winning streak against mid tier guys and was blowing them out (no homo__had to add that since one of which was Orlando Cruz).
At the time I felt De Leon was being a bit disrespected as a former reigning champ being put in with a prospect, but Broner did his thing and made it close. Close enough to where there could be a 2 point swing either way. One judge slept through the fight
Next he destroyed the man who upset Caballero...Litzau, and nearly killed him
I don't know who the fukk Rodriguez is either, BS fight, more less handed him the title but his two previous fights proved he was a force in his division.
Perez was an OK fighter, got his career ended for his troubles, but he was a ranked guy too (not a great division at the time as you can see, but what can you do)
Next he says fukk weighing in and obliterates Escobedo unprofessionally, poor guy, career was never the same, he was a tough dude.
DeMarco was a top 3 Lightweight by everyone...and got DESTROYED by Broner
by this point, people start noticing Broner as potentially being a p4p fighter, that was an incredible performance.
Gavin Rees hit him more than he should've been, but was taken out for his troubles, but Rees is and has been a top 10 lightweight. Impressive stoppage, but there was talks of Broner's defense being leaky thus making the Mayweather comparisons unjust.
Malignaggi, 2 weight champion, top 10 welterweight, is also beaten, though not as decisively as his hype claimed it would be. NOT a gate-keeper, you don't use a 2 weight champ, current champ, top 10 welterweight as a gate keeper. If you think that, then what does that say about the fighter facing him (Broner)?
Malignaggi had a bad night out against Cano, someone he underestimated and as always with him unfortunately, hurt his hand against. Even still, he escaped with a gift and Cano went on to lose to 100-year-old Mosley. Cano is scrappy, but nothing special, just an Escobedo type guy. Malignaggi was at his best against Broner, still hurt his hand though (damn shame too) but still lost, he's not a bad boxer, just not GREAT
Paulie's misfortune really isn't even his fault neither, dude just has glass for hands and no power. I'm with brother Nazim, those two factors out of the way he'd be an all time great......but it is what it is
All that typing
