there was...bro had fights at 175 waiting for him..the problem was his body was breaking down...trying to face the likes of superman or beterbiev in that condition was rolling the dice

I wanted that Ward/Stevenson fight considering it would have been for the linear title, but I knew Ward wouldn’t be interested in that fight.

Ward never crossed over because he's boring as fukk and has the personality of a fukk nikka during commentary.
I only ever see his name mentioned here. Nobody gives a fukk about that nikka like that outside of this fukking forum.

Great boxer, but dude's ceiling wasn't going to expand due to the above.

Gotta add that his career was very underwhelming after the super 6.

People were upset how long the super 6 was on this forum, but imagine what his resume would look like without that round robin. Before the super six, those guys at 168 were cherrypicking until a title shot.

He was lowkey risk averse as well.

truthfully i thought ward was going to wash out before he got in the super six...i was not high on him at all....still love the super 6 to this day...if they did single elimination instead of round robin scoring, it would have went smoother..ward's best win before super 6 was prolly edison miranda

The problem with a single elimination tournament is that it would have been shorter. A longer tournament ensured we got solid fights.

Before the tournament those guys were playing it safe, fighting bums. No one was fighting each other. That tournament gave the division solid fights to look forward to for a few years.

Why the sense of urgency to declare a winner? Ward won and then what happened? Nothing lol

Keith vs Boots at 54?

2:30 in & Thurman says about Boots beating Stanionis: "Everybody still sees you getting clocked", "You haven't been clocked by the right ones"

It's what I've been saying about him for the last several years now. I'd love to see this fight but I'm wondering if he gets the like according to Robert Garcia vs Ortiz proposed fight: "Boots needs 2 fights at 54 first"

yeah but with the longer tournament ppl were pulling out for various reasons and it messed up the flow of the tournament...allan green and glen johnson were the alternates...green basically got turned into jobber status while glen put on prolly the second best fight in the tournament with froch

taylor pulled out because of the brain bleed
kessler pulled out because of the eye injuries he suffered in his fights
dirrell pulled out because of the concussion syndrome

the final was anti climactic and ward immediately went to hbo instead of unifying with bute

Boots wanted Thurman too when he was at 147 so he can't say shyt about 154.

Zero excuses.

I can see Boots getting a couple tune up fights but it will be hypocritical a bit whenever he called folks out he wanted them to respond ASAP and setup a fight. The narrative nobody wants to fight boots is out the window now. A few people called him out.

I’m aware of that but my point still stands, those matchups with the alternates were better than what the division was giving us.

Just think about it, what decent fights were happening at 168 prior to the tournament?

I get it wasn’t a smooth tournament, but it’s better than the cherry pick, cherry pick, fight nobody unless it’s a title shot shyt that goes on in this sport.
