Canelo didnt get crumpled into the ropes by Floyd. Floyd never hurt Canelo. Canelo just had no idea what to do. GGG had Stevens in the fetal position.
And I am not saying Lara is some ATG fighter. What I am saying is that Lara's skill set resembles Floyd and one that gives Canelo problems. A fighter who can keep you off, fight at distance, and slip punches is a weakness for Canelo right now. Now Lara makes plenty of mistakes and Canelo is a good puncher, so I think there is a lot to be optimistic in this matchup for Canelo.

Like I said I wouldn't kill Canelo if he didn't take this fight. He is still growing and learning. Saying Kirkland would have beat him earlier on his career doesn't prove shyt because a lot of pro boxing is experience. Tapia looked promising, but I never would have thrown him in with Kirkland for his first test. It isnt ducking when you are building a guy up with experience and pass on fights. Canelo feels he is that guy now, so he is taking all comers.

Regarding Canelo at this weight, he should stay. MW sucks at Showtime. Quillin is their only top tiered fighter right now.
At JMW, they could have Kirkland, Cotto if he wins, Molina, the Charlo bros...he still has plenty of excellent options.

I am no Canelo fan...but at the same time....Lara is legit. None of these guys are kingpins. There are very few true championship caliber fighters out there, the rest are just hype jobs. If Canelo beats Lara without controversy...I will have to give him props for that.

I just think Lara has ability but he has looked shytty in a couple of fights. Lara will never beat a Canelo, backs straight up with his hands down, and only robotically moves in one direction al the time, he's very easy to time and pretty much predictable, C Level imo, not to mention he's extremely pillow fisted, let any other suitable JMWs land those counters on WIlliams and Angulo and doesn't as much as move them
