Dan Rafael - Rafael After Dark 5/24:

- His personal opinion: thought Stevenson was exposed a bit and maybe was a window into why he didn't want the Kovalev fight.
- Hopkins has neutralized guys before like Stevenson who don't move a lot, come straight forward, bad balance, and bad stamina.
- Lemieux might get Quillin after his performance.
- Prediciting GGG fights Geale in July and JCC in September or Fall. (WBA decision on exception should come next week)
- Previously rumblings of Ruslan being unhappy with HBO aren't too serious, expect him to stay with HBO and not leave for Showtime.
- Mayweather-Maidana PPV sales...he is hearing constantly high 800's or low 900's.
- Arum will not put Rios in a fight at 140 because he doesn't believe he can make weight.
- Ruslan wants to stay at 140 and defend his title, no plans on moving up. (for those who have been asking about a Ruslan-Rios fight)
- He has never heard a fighter say a bad word about Haymon in public and private. They always say how great he treats them.
I am a BHop fan but a lot of this talk about how he will neutralize Stevenson is just nonsense. When was the last time Bernard fought somebody with the power that Adonis has? The only hope I see for Hopkins is that he can weather the storm and hope Adonis gets gassed. But that would be a hellacious storm to weather.

And Lemieux/Quillin would be interesting. After the last few subpar performances by Quillin I am not sure if I would pick him in that fight.

First off big props to my fellow #StevensonSuperSquad brethren @yawn for saying we were going to have a dynamite fight. I thought it was going to be entertaining an competitive, but end in a mid rd stoppage victory for Adonis.
Great fight. This was never some mismatch though. Everyone knew Fonfara was tough and was a capable dude. We just ain't know how tough and how capable. He showed it last night for sure. Stevenson was kicking his ass and dude hung in there long enough to change the tide and have some big moments. He also gets props for recognizing he lost by not wanting to be congratulated and understanding that just because you drop a guy and win some late rounds while losing the decision doesn't mean you were robbed which a lot of nikkas do for some reason. I wouldn't even mind a rematch down the road if they both remain undefeated. Fonfara shall now be known as DoomsDay since Superman hit him with everything and he kept on coming.

I still think Superman beats Brainiac (Hopkins) and would still love to see him fight Zod (Kovalev) in the future.

Charlo needs to get more aggressive. He picks and pokes a lil too much when he should be steadily attacking.

Guerrero seems to have an even worse chin then Seth Mitchell. (Okay maybe not that bad, but it's pretty damn bad)

Dope weekend of fights.

exposed how? I thought that he couldve taken Fonfara out if he didnt get too overzealous in the first round. after he blew that window...then he was just in a tough fight with a tough guy. Fonfara would give Kovalev the same kinda fight.

People really tryna discredit Stevenson even though he dropped and defeated a legitimate contender

But praise Kovalev who gassed out after 4 rounds against a timid undeserving opponent who hadn't fought in a year :dwillhuh:

not to say kovalev cant beat Stevenson...but it was really amazing to me how Agnew seem to trouble him if only slightly. Agnew not straight trash but he is VERY limited and extremely inexperienced against world class opposition. I saw more negatives for Kovalev in that fight than positives.

I have a feeling I'm going to be bringing this quote back up sometime in the near future. :sas1:
