Brandon Rios says he’s returning Aug 2
Former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (31-2, 23 KOs) just announced on his Facebook place that his comeback fight will be against former WBA interim welterweight titleholder Diego Chaves (23-1, 19 KOs) on August 2 in Las Vegas.

fighting a WW with power.....this could be the end of Rios career at the top

its a winnable fight if rios uses his boxing skills and jab (which he does have) and goes to the body..if not he'll prolly win a slugfest but take yet another beating

I don't know man. Seems like they throwing Rios in there kinda tough. Chaves is big as fukk with good power. Dude was also giving Thurman all he could handle before he got stopped. Rios doesn't have fight changing power like #OneTime and he hardly ever tires to outbox dudes even though he has decent boxing skills.

I can easily see him getting his ass kicked in this one. I'd rather see Chaves vs Abregu.

This is prolly what the Cotto/Martinez fight will look like this Saturday. A big dude constantly dropping and hurting the smaller man after eating his punches like they ain't shyt. Skinny kid must have hit the ground damn near 8 times. :mjlol:

:ohhh: at the southpaw jab to the body and then coming up top with the left cross

:russ: at using the Berto shoulder roll an actually blocking punches with it.

:what: at the skinny kid getting caught with all them slow ass haymakers

This "Super Champion" bullshyt needs to stop. The last thing boxing needs is more supposed world champions.
it does but at least those 2 are the only champs in their division within their organizational body..jacobs need to stop bullshytting and face one of them or GGG

he rarely uses his boxing skills and jab though :heh: he couldve easily beat Alvarado had he done that more often.

I was gonna post a rant about this the other day but was like why bother. When I saw it, I was like :snoop: WBA breaking their own rules...then I realized that GGG has the IBO title. :mjlol:

WBA still breaking their own rules. IIRC it was supposed to be initially for a champion who holds at least two of the MAJOR sanctioning body belts. Anyway, Geale isnt a step up. These guys need to step up. Geale is the same level of opponent he has been facing really. I'll bet they dont want no parts of Soliman.

Tbf Geale is a former champ who beat sturm and lost a very split close to decision to Barker.

Unless GGG was fighting another champ this is most probably the best fight available

I understand that, Geale is good, but not upper echelon... what I am saying is....they are milking it. Same thing with Kovalev. Its not as difficult to make fights as these guys make it seem. At this point and time yes, its the best out there, but what about the last 12 months? Adama, Stevens, Macklin, Geale are all on the same basic level or close to it. MW does suck though.
