negative. just 2 fights ago swift got hella respect for beating the hype machine lucas. he struggled with herrera, something im not even mad about. he won and time to move on to another opponent but, this shyt tonight was a waste of time and proved nothing. rod salka :what: first time i heard son name i thought he was some time of unlocked character on street fighter or some shyt like that :laff:

lets be real, salka had no business in the ring tonight with swift. if he fought someone who was top 15-20 i don't think there wouldn't be this much of a backlash from fans tonight. personally, i wouldn't even be mad if son fought lundy, aydin, soto, demarco, dierry jean, or even peterson tonight.

i don't think swift-peterson is set in stone for later this year, i had no idea postol was the #1 contender for the wbc title and vargas is basically the #1 guy with that wba regular championship title he has now :laff: i will be surprised if garcia gets another gimme fight like this.
He just following the lead of the man that made him rich. My point is he already proved he bout that life,so cut him some slack.

I don't have a problem with either one.

Boxing fans shouldn't either. they both ranked top 10 at 140.
Hell yes they should have a problem with it. Swift would be giving a title shot to a guy Matthysse flattened 2 fights ago. That's a waste of time. Let Peterson face some real comp before getting a shot at the champ. Swift has plenty of other good options. He already had his tuneup. He doesn't need a 2nd one.

Peterson: Fans and Media Want Me vs. Danny Garcia

Barclays Center, Brooklyn - In the co-feature bout, Lamont Peterson (33-2-1, 17 KOs) retained his IBF Junior Welterweight World Championship with a dominating tenth-round technical knockout victory over Edgar Santana (29-5, 20 KOs).

Peterson, of Washington, D.C., controlled the fight from the outset, lighting up New York native Santana with left hooks and shots to the body. Peterson was highly accurate, landing 53 percent of his power punches and 48 percent of his total punches.

The champion diversified his attack in later rounds, with Santana enduring consistent punishment. With 11 seconds left in the tenth, referee Pete Santiago had seen enough and awarded Peterson the technical knockout.

“I was able to show a lot of dimensions of my game,” said 30-year-old Peterson. “I was boxing well. I fought on the inside well. I actually think I should have gotten him out of there sooner but I give myself an okay grade.

"I think it was [round] four or five. I hurt him. I didn't finish him. I don't know why I didn't but I knew I hurt him –and it was over– it was just a matter of time. I just had to get the right spot, push on the gas and go forward.”

On a potential fight with Danny Garcia…“This is the fight all the fans and the media want. I'm willing to do it. Again, I'm going to say this: 'I'm willing to do it.' Hopefully it gets done...It makes more sense to do it at 140 but if it has to happen at 147 I have no problem.”

On his feelings during his brother's fight…"He [Anthony] did me a favor tonight...I had to fight but that's my brother. I was a little nervous when he was in there. Good thing is he got him out of there in the first round so I didn't have to worry about him for too long.”

“He came in with a good game plan. He’s tougher than I expected. His style frustrated me,” said Santana.

The gap between Swift and Peterson is way bigger than 1 to 3. It would be easy for Swift. And Peterson doesn't deserve the fight, belt or no belt.

Unification is important. That doesn't mean Peterson should get a shot because Matthysse was too stupid to keep it a title match before KOing him. Let someone legit get a shot to take Peterson's belt and make the winner of that fight the next challenger for Danny's title. If Peterson can beat Herrera, AB, Postol, or someone else, THEN make it happen. If not, then it's as transparent as this Salka garbage.

And getting a clear W against Herrera is much more important for Swift's legacy.

Danny's dad suggested to the media Peterson fight Algieri first then they fight for all 4 belts

He got killed for the suggestion by the media N fans

Golden Boy VP Seeks to Justify Garcia-Salka Mismatch

Golden Boy Promotions Vice President Eric Gomez stood behind Danny Garcia, both literally and figuratively, cutting in as reporters questioned Garcia following the 140-pound champion’s easy and brutal knockout of the overmatched Rod Salka.

“Danny’s about beating the top guys, fighting the top guys. He’s always fought the top guys,” Gomez said when Garcia was asked about future opponents.

What, then, was the Salka bout, Gomez was asked.

“Hey!” he responded. “When Danny beat Lucas Matthysse, they cleaned out the division. Who else is there to beat? Who else is there to beat?”

There of course is a potential bout with Lamont Peterson, who has rebounded from his third-round stoppage loss to Lucas Matthysse last year with a pair of wins, first over Dierry Jean earlier in 2014 and then over Edgar Santana this past Saturday.

Peterson-Santana was on the undercard of Garcia-Salka, a bout that many had criticized as a woeful mismatch from the outset.

Gomez was asked why the Salka fight was not a mismatch.

“Because Salka earned the shot,” Gomez said before walking away. He later chatted further with BoxingScene.com.

BoxingScene.com: You said Rod Salka earned the fight. With what?

Gomez: “He’s a tough kid. He deserves it.”

BoxingScene.com: But do you understand why a lot of people were questioning this fight as a mismatch given his lack of a track record at 140?

Gomez: “When you have Danny Garcia, who pretty much ran through the division, Lucas Matthysse who ran through the division. They cleaned out the division. The two top guys fought each other. Danny Garcia fought against Lucas Matthysse, right? A lot of you guys didn’t think that fight was going to happen. They fought each other. There was a winner. There’s one top guy.”

BoxingScene.com: But that’s a non sequitur to the question of Rod Salka. If we look through the rankings at 140, Rod Salka’s not even in the top 15.

Gomez: “What rankings do you go through?”

BoxingScene.com: If we go through any rankings…

Gomez: “What rankings, though? … There are six different rankings.”

BoxingScene.com: What did Rod Salka do at 140, in your mind?

Gomez: “You know what, he deserved this title, he deserved the chance to fight.”

BoxingScene.com: This result was something that a lot of people figured would happen. They predicted that it was going to be a whitewash, and it turned out to be the whitewash that people were predicting. I like Rod Salka, but his track record at 130 wouldn’t be for a title shot there. His track record at 135 wouldn’t be for a title shot there. His track record at 140 wouldn’t be for a title shot, never mind a shot at THE guy.

Gomez: “What do you mean? What do you mean?”

BoxingScene.com: What don’t you understand?

Gomez: “What you said.”

BoxingScene.com: So Salka’s track record at 130…

Gomez then walked away again.
