My take:

2017 already looks a lot more promising for me than 2016...

Concentrate on the positive things boxing fans... We have many interesting matchups coming up these next few months, honestly I think the situation now is easily better than 3-4 years ago.

I basically see more people complaining about the Lara card than people being glad about the two fights of today...
There will be always some bullshyt cards in boxing and always were, just deal with it... I don't like it but I knew it when I got into watching it and the situation wasn't any better than now.

It would be good to see people rather being happy about the good matchups but no cause many boxing fans be like "that should be the natural no things to be happy about ". Well... then just be unhappy and angry in your whole life about the bullshyt matchups... You choose...

myself i feel no frustration of @SuikodenII 's nature but i understand it...boxing is a sport that shoots itself in the foot constantly

fighters playing weight games
promoters putting on obvious bullshyt and trying to justify it
the marquee fights not being made for various reasons
fights/cards that should have pushed boxing forward and set up the future ended up stalemating it because it didnt deliver on the excitement front
horrendous scorecards marring fights

fights that are being made for 2017 is nice but what would also be nicer if some of the aforementioned things also get cleaned up as well

super 6 was a great idea..a few tweaks and it can work in another division

The bantam 4 man tourney that happened afterwards was better, but hardly anyone talks about it. All those fights ended up being entertaining and you didn't have to keep putting the controller down because of the "New Challenger" screen that appeared after almost every damn fight.

4 man tourneys just run faster. You half way done with just one doubleheader.

So I had a brain freeze

I was watching Lara-Foreman last night. It said Lara's record was 24-2-2. So I'm like he has 2 losses? I know he lost to Canelo, but I kept thinking who else do he lose to? I gave it a good 10 minutes before I cheated and said fukk it. I went to boxrec, and of course I saw the "loss" to Paul Williams. I completely forgot. This happens at times, because there are fights where I don't take into account the "official" result and this is one of them. Lara did Williams dirty in the fight. This fight was really sad watching live. Like Paul really got dominated in a 12 round fight, which has never really happen before.

Also funny because everyone here loves Punisher and can't stand Lara

Not having one official recognized sanctioning body I think is the main reason for this.

Other than the bold one I agree, but I still feel sometimes that on the other hand the good matchups don't get enough credit. Cause many people somehow still take those for granted idk how to be honest.

Like... I would be also happy if this sport would have one centralized ruling body, one belt and etc... but people need to understand that this is sadly don't go that way. It's not like football or idk. So the standards should be different too and if we can't even be happy about the positive things cause we always compare them to other sports' standards then only the anger what is left cause of the fukkery around the sport.

Chavez Jr. believes Canelo has lost the love of the Mexican boxing fans because of the entire situation with middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.

For most of 2016, Golovkin and his team were trying to get Canelo in the ring. Canelo, who held the middleweight title at the time, vowed to make a mandatory defense against Golovkin last fall. He instead vacated his world title and then dropped down to junior middleweight.

"The fight is important for Mexican boxing, both for him and for me. The people are interested in a good fight and two Mexicans who draw attention worldwide is something very important for boxing, in addition to a sports rivalry that's gone on for a long time and finally we will fight," Chavez Jr. told ESPN Deportes.

"He lost a lot of affection from the fans. He does have a lot of popularity, but at the same time he has very little affection from the fans - because he lost them when he turned away from Golovkin and when he turned away from the best fighters - which is something that I've never done... it's worth more to fight quality than quantity... the quality of the people [you are fighting]. But because the Warriors were at home and are more popular, they're awarded the victory. Officially. Basketball fans, analysts, and sports media are fukking bewildered. Investigation, lawsuits, and all kinds of shyt take place...... maybe even a shut down of the league if not handled promptly.

Boxing can't even fix this............. NONE of the other shyt even matters. None of it. How long has this sport been a sport? Over a century? And it's not even attempting to get right?
