Erislandy Lara-Yuri Foreman Card Generates 547,000 Viewers

By Premier Boxing Champions

LAS VEGAS, NV - Erislandy Lara, the WBA/IBO 154-pound champion, scored two knockouts in his match against Yuri Foreman in Miami on Premier Championship Boxing on Spike TV last Friday night. One in the ring to retain his world titles and another in the ratings.

An average of 547,000 viewers, with a peak audience of 707,000, tuned in to watch Lara land a devastating uppercut that knocked out former world champion Foreman in the fourth round.

Spike TV's viewership ratings for Lara vs. Foreman scored 11% higher than their last Friday night telecast, which showcased Danny Jacobs vs Sergio Mora. Look for Erislandy Lara to return to the ring sometime before summer.

"I want to thank Spike TV and everyone involved with the promotion for giving me the opportunity to fight in Miami, in front of all my fans." said Erislandy Lara.

"The last time I fought in Miami I got the knockout and that's exactly what I wanted to do in this fight. I accomplished that goal and the fans got to see someone go down. Everyone loves the knockout. I'm happy to have delivered a positive rating for Spike TV. I can't wait to return to the ring."

I stand for fairness.

Just like GGG, out of all the people who were calling him out, dragged up the least threatening/smallest non-Middleweight to fight at 160, when Andrade/Lara/DeGale/Jack/Zurdo were calling him out?:mjpls:

Canelo Alvarez vs Liam Smith was made official in late June 2016 ( Canelo Alvarez & Liam Smith to Battle for the WBO Junior Middleweight World Championship on September 17 | Golden Boy Promotions ) .........Charlo/Rock was already mandated 3 weeks before then ( IBF to order Jermall Charlo vs. Julian Williams - Boxing News ) ..... and Jermell Charlo already HAD a mandatory defense scheduled vs Charles Hatley which WBC wont let him get out of, even for a Canelo fight ( Jermell Charlo Tells WBC That He Wants Canelo Alvarez Clash - Boxing News )

So, how did he duck the Charlo's to face Liam Smith?:mjpls:

Canelo never gave up his WBO Junior Middleweight Championship and is still Champion there, just like he's still THEE Man at Middleweight.

If Jermall wants this work, he can get in line at 160, BUT he's calling out YOUR boy GGG also:sas1:

So, I guess if GGG doesn't fight him....it's a duck, right?:sas2:
I waver on Canelo and GGG weekly; im feeling GGG this week, good dude hard not to like him and his subtle smugness:manny:

Thats whats so intriguing about this match; I have a feeling one will catch a ass whooping and ruin the hype; that wont be GGG in the jacobs fight though....

Yea' it could be though I think that match happens it will be close as hell. Canelo has never faced anyone with that kinda power and none of GGG's opponents were as complete as Canelo. And stylistically this is interesting AF.

Brolic... Alcoholics
yeah I don't know.

spence came up from nothing in the Olympics...I don't think he was a huge prospect either.

That 2012 team is interesting considering no one won a gold medal. Did anyone even win silver or bronze? I'm not sure. I know Shields took home Gold and there Latino chick did. But Brazeale, Browne, JoJo, and Errol came up empty but are some of the best fighters in the world today.

Thurman wants Errol Spence Jr. match to be mega-fight
PostDateIcon.png

spence5-1.jpg

By Dan Ambrose: WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (27-0, 22 KOs) says before he faces unbeaten Errol Spence Jr. (21-0, 18 KOs) in the future, he wants the fight to be built up by the media to the point where it’s a mega-fight rather than a normal fight.

Thurman points out that Floyd Mayweather Jr. didn’t agree to fight Manny Pacquiao when the boxing public wanted him to. He waited until he was ready to make that fight happen before he finally agreed to do it.

Thurman thinks that the fans and media should keep building up the Spence fight to make it really big. He’ll then fight him. Of course, what Thurman isn’t saying is he might get beaten long before it gets to the point of him fighting Spence. Thurman almost lost his last fight to Shawn Porter, and he may lose his March 4 unification match against WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia. Thurman, 5’7”, might not have the size, the chin or the ability to take body shots to be counted on to hold down his WBA title for any length of time. He’s not another Mayweather. Thurman gets hit, and he gets hurt.

Speaking of Mayweather, he thinks Thurman is ducking Spence, and he doesn’t understand why he doesn’t take the fight with him. Mayweather offered Thurman the Spence fight two years ago, but he didn’t want to face him.

Thurman said this to fighthype.com about his thoughts on a fight against Spence:

“I’m tired of being asked that [expletive] question,” said Thurman. “The way that Floyd is talking about Thurman ducking Spence, four years ago everyone ducked me. Keep talking about it. I’m willing to fight everybody. If that’s a mega-fight, then let it be a mega-fight. I only have one career. Yes, you should build it up. Mayweather built up the Pacquiao fight. You can keep talking about it. We can build it up. I have no problem fighting Errol Spence. If we get through Errol Spence, they’re going to say he wasn’t ready too. So there’s no pro in that. I got mad respect for him. I know he’s young. I know he’s hungry. I know he’s ready. Floyd didn’t fight Pacquiao when people said he should fight Manny Pacquiao. Did Floyd fight Sugar Shane Mosley when people said he should fight Sugar Shane. I would love that fight,” said Thurman.

Thurman seems to be comparing himself to Mayweather, but he doesn’t have that kind of background. Mayweather fought in the Olympics for the U.S and probably should have won a gold medal. Mayweather is a former five division world champion. Thurman never fought in the Olympics, and he’s only won a world title at welterweight. He doesn’t have the same background Mayweather has going for him.

“I wonder why Keith Thurman keeps ducking Errol Spence,” said Mayweather to Fighthype.com. “Everybody is ducking Errol Spence.”

The fact that Thurman was willing to fight guys that were out of his league like Luis Collazo and Robert Guerrero, it suggests to this writer that he’s ducking the Spence fight due to the danger involved. I don’t believe that Thurman is waiting for it to become a mega-fight before he’ll agree to fight Spence. I think he realizes what a loss to Spence can do his boxing career. We saw how easily Spence destroyed Leonard Bundu and Chris Algieri. No one had ever done that to either of these guys. That could have been Thurman being destroyed by Spence.

Thurman wants Errol Spence Jr. match to be mega-fight - Boxing News

Once again:

So would you call this ducking, avoiding, or a business decision when Thurman decides to face other fighters instead of fighting Spence? :mjpls:

I would like to know for future references:youngsabo:

That wasn't that good :lolbron:

But I'm pretty sure he would fight Spence if he had a belt. I would consider it a duck though if he did what Brook's trying to do at the moment. Or if he didn't try to unify which he said he wants to.
