Tony Bellew: This Could Be The Last Time I Do This
By Elliot Foster
Tony Bellew has said he may call it quits after his defeat of David Haye.
The 34-year-old WBC cruiserweight champion beat the former world heavyweight champion at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday.
Bellew, who earnt a career-high purse after the Sky Sports Box Office showdown, is likely to have plenty of lucrative options on the table after upsetting Haye, but he insists it will take something special to tempt him back into the ring.

“I can't continue to put my body through this,” he told Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour on the Sports Breakfast show on Monday. “I can't continue to put my family through it.
"I'm not a greedy man. I am content with the life I have got, the life I have created.
"I have been wise with the money I have earned from boxing.
"It is going to take something very big and spectacular to draw me back out. Boxing is a brutal, hard combat sport and I will retire from boxing, boxing will not retire me.”
Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs) suffered a broken right hand in the fight and said that he would follow head coach Dave Coldwell in being happy if he were to hang up his gloves now.
"I got up this morning and I felt like I was 85 years old,” he continued. “I'm in so much pain. My right hand is smashed to bits –– it looks like a purple pillow. My face has got cuts on it, and my nose is banged up.
"I don't know how many more times I can do it. It is going to have to take something big and special to draw me back out."
Last Saturday night's fight was the first time Bellew had competed professionally as a heavyweight.
Haye, the big favourite given his previous success in the division, was hindered by an Achilles injury for much of the bout and was barely able to stand, at times dragging his right leg in a bid to close the gap on Bellew to get his shots off.
But Bellew insists he simply 'broke' his 36-year-old opponent, both physically and mentally.
"It went exactly the way I thought," he claimed.
"I had to go through hell in those first three rounds, He hits very, very hard.
"He caught me clean on multiple occasions and what broke him the most is the fact I could take what he had and once the fourth and fifth rounds come you physically see me put it on him and he capitulates. He falls apart physically and mentally and the injury comes.
"It was all down to me the injury because I put the pressure on him.”
You can listen to Tony Bellew’s talkSPORT interview now at tlks.pt/l3K85E.
shyt he even admitted it earlier that he was in it for his kids. Can't blame him.

Flanagan Breaks Down Mikey Garcia, Robert Easter, Linares
WBO lightweight boss Terry Flanagan - proud owner of the longest unblemished record in British boxing - is confident that 2017 shall be the year he finally gets to prove beyond any contention, that he is the finest 135lb fighting man on this planet.
Here, speaking to Glynn Evans, the Manchester ‘Turbo’, now a perfect 32-0, casts his critical eye over the charlatans recognised by rival governing bodies, who he intends to crush to confirm his world domination.

Robert Easter Jr (IBF)
This Adrien Broner protégé from Ohio collected the vacant title in a Fight of the Year contender against much avoided Ghanaian bomber Richard Commey last September. In his opening defence last weekend, he showed he could shift a ticket in his native Toledo whilst comprehensively outscoring Puerto Rico’s Luis Cruz.
Fresh at 26, and with the confidence of an unbeaten 19 fight slate, the 5ft 11in ‘E-Bunny’ is one of the few men at 9st 9lbs that Flanagan would be forced to spot height and reach to. With a 74% kayo ratio, Easter might also hold a marginal edge in raw power. However, at this stage, he’d be a long shot to upset someone as experienced, industrious and skilled as the awkward Manc southpaw.
The ‘Turbo’ says: ‘I’ve only seen the clips of his fight with Cruz but he’s meant to have looked very good. I saw all of his title win against Richard Commey last year. That was a very close fight that could’ve gone either way but Commey is a very dangerous guy, a ridiculous puncher. The result could’ve gone either way but Easter stood up well to big pressure and he showed a lot of b******s and heart. That fight was pretty hectic so Easter proved his stamina and he must have a great chin cos the African can really whack with his right hand. Everyone else was avoiding him (Commey).
Easter’s tall and rangy. His record clearly shows he can punch a bit. He dropped Cruz in each of the last three rounds so clearly he carries his power late and, despite his size, he probably isn’t struggling at the weight if he finished that strongly.
That said, I believe he’s the weakest of us four current champions -he’s certainly the least experienced – and I’d jump at a chance to fight him. I’ve been calling for unification fights for years and of course I’d travel to the States to secure them.
I’d be very confident against ‘Bunny’ because my style really doesn’t suit these Americans who like to just stand back, pose and admire their work. They line up these tailor-made limited Latin Americans who just steam forward and make them look good for TV. My speed, footwork and fast pace would prove a real struggle for Easter. I’d really put it on him from the opening bell and eventually I’d get him.’
Jorge Linares (WBA)
A modern great, the Tokyo-based Venezuelan is a four time, three-weight world champion who has won eight of the ten global title fights he has contested since 2007.
In addition to the land of his birth, ‘El Nino de Oro’ (Golden Boy) has triumphed in Japan, Panama, Argentina, South Korea, the US, Mexico and England (scalping both Kevin Mitchell and Anthony Crolla) whilst compiling a formidable 41-3 slate. Twenty-seven casualties succumbed early to his scorching fists.
However, the 5ft 8in Latino is now well into his 32nd year and all his defeats were by emphatic stoppage. On 25th March, he returns to the UK to defend his crown in a rematch with Crolla. Expect Flanagan to be making notes from ringside.
The ‘Turbo’ says: ‘I have to say I was impressed with Linares in his first fight with Crolla and I think he’ll probably win the rematch the same way. Crolla had the right tactics but it just wasn’t his night.
Before that fight Linares looked pretty thin and fragile and, early doors, it looked as if Anthony was going to run away with it. But then he hurt Crolla in the middle rounds and really kicked on. In the close rounds, Linares was able to really turn it on for 20-30 seconds to nick the session. He’s a good tid

Be "dehydrated" in a weight class where you don't have to make weight brehs

All seriousness...WBC can fuk out my face with this rematch...i hope Wilder's side file's a protest with the WBC and make Stiverne fight Ortiz or Pulev in a eliminator so he can earn this shyt.

One single fight with a journeyman who was unranked by the WBC, in the last two years since he lost the title (which he supposedy looked like shyt in) is enough to secure a #1 mandatory slot?:martin:
i hear you... but Stiverne's his best opponent since... Stiverne

Stiverne was dehydrated, that's a fact.

Wilder had his time to shine, now the king is back

Anthony Dirrell-Callum Smith: TGB Wins Purse Bid - $1.6 Million

By Keith Idec

The WBC announced Sunday that TGB Promotions has won a purse bid for its Anthony Dirrell-Callum Smith super middleweight title fight.

TGB Promotions – a Sherman Oaks, California, company that will promote the fight on behalf of Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions – won with a whopping bid of $1.6 million, presumably to keep the fight in the United States. England’s Smith (22-0, 17 KOs), the WBC’s No. 1 super middleweight contender, and the second-ranked Dirrell (30-1-1, 24 KOs), of Flint, Michigan, will fight for the unclaimed WBC 168-pound championship Badou Jack gave up last month.

The WBC did not announce how much money other promoters bid for the right to promote the Dirrell-Smith match. A date has not yet been set for the Smith-Dirrell match, either.

The 32-year-old Dirrell had hoped to land a rematch against Jack (20-1-3, 12 KOs), who beat him by majority decision in their 12-rounder to take the WBC super middleweight title nearly two years ago in Chicago.

Sweden’s Jack can no longer make the 168-pound limit, however, thus he relinquished the WBC title after battling England’s James DeGale (23-1-1, 14 KOs), the IBF super middleweight champion, to a hard-fought draw in their unification fight January 14 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Jack’s next fight will take place in the light heavyweight division.

Dirrell most recently demolished Hungary’s Norbert Nemesapati (25-5, 18 KOs), who lost by technical knockout to Dirrell following six one-sided rounds January 13 in Hialeah, Florida.

In Smith’s most recent fight, the 26-year-old Liverpool native stopped fellow Brit Luke Blackledge (22-3-2, 7 KOs) in the 10th round December 10 in Manchester, England.

Some people say Jermell Charlo might be too much too soon for Lubin but I'm calling it now, if they fight this year Lubin is gonna beat him. I was never really impressed with Jermell, imo he lost to Martirosyan and he struggled big time with John Jackson too before the KO. Lubin feels like a special talent and I think he's gonna beat Jermell even at this age. I know that his competition wasn't as high as some of Charlo's and he doesn't have the advantage in experience but Lubin was just more impressive to me even against low tier opponents than Jermell. We will see this year hopefully.

Mayweather looks to expand promotional reach in U.K.

Would be a smart move, MAyweather exploiting his fame and realizes how big of a market the U.K. is. They really get behind almostt all of their fighters even the ones who are C level fighters or so... U.K. is pretty much the boxing live gate heaven they always fill up entire soccer stadions and arenas for bigger fights.

Speaking of special talents:youngsabo:

“I think Pacquiao is willing to unify, he’s fighting Amir Khan and Khan is with Al Haymon,” Spence told BoxingScene.com.

Spence also can see a fight with unified 140 pound champion, Terence Crawford (30-0, 21 KO’s).

“Terence Crawford is a good fighter, great skills,” stated Spence. “I think it’d be a good fight for 147. It won’t happen now but I think down the road that would be a really good fight.”
