Klitschko Tells Holyfield: I Won't Fight You For Any Amount - Boxing News

By Ruslan Chikov

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40KOs) has no interest in facing former four time beltholder Evander Holyfield. During several recent interviews, Holyfield demanded a fight with Vitali and his younger brother Wladimir Klitschko.

Holyfield told press members that Vitali could earn $20 million dollars by fighting him. Vitali has refused the offer and doesn't care about the money.

"Many, many times Holyfield has said that he wants to fight with me or my brother - but I refuse to go against him in the ring. He is my idol. I can't do it for any amount of money," Vitali said.

Vitali returns on September 8th against Manuel Charr (21-0, 11KOs) in Moscow, Russia.

He's really trying to go out on some Apollo Creed type steez :snoop:

...only thing is, there would be NOBODY to avenge him :damn:

Pascal Back in December; Cloud vs. Murat is Likely Next - Boxing News

The light heavyweight showdown between Jean Pascal and Tavoris Cloud will not take place in 2012, according to Pascal's promoter Yvon Michel. The fight was scheduled for August 11 in Montreal, but Pascal suffered a hand injury and withdrew from the contest.

Besides the issue of being unable to reschedule the fight on Showtime, other problems came up with the inability to secure a November date with the Bell Centre in Montreal, and Cloud's mandatory Karo Murat was pushing hard for his shot. Murat was demanding a written guarantee to face the winner and a non-refundable amount of money, likely as a step-aside fee.

The numerous issues made the rescheduling of the fight impossible, at least for 2012. Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KOs) will now return in the month of December in Montreal. Cloud (24-0, 19 KOs) will defend his IBF title against Murat (25-1-1, 15 KOs), likely in November.

"We wanted to make the fight in 2012, but it was too early to do it in October and it was impossible to book the Bell Centre in November with Lucian Bute fighting [on November 3] and Georges St-Pierre [fighting on November 17]. December was a possibility, but Murat felt the delay was too long and he knew that his outlandish requests were rejected. I do not blame him, he has been waiting for a while," Michel said.

"Cloud will simply meet his obligations as a champion. I believe that Cloud should not have any difficulties with Murat. If all goes well, we will keep the same agreement, with Cloud and Showtime, and make the fight in the spring [of 2013]."

I have no clue how he became #1 contender...

Sergio Martinez Workout is Canceled Due To Threats

VENTURA, CALIF. -- Threats and an incident of vandalism over the weekend at the Oxnard-based training camp of
two-division world champion SERGIO MARTÍNEZ (49-2-2, 28 KOs), of Argentina, has forced the cancellation of
Martinez's Media Day Workout, scheduled for Tuesday, August 28 in Ventura, Calif. Martínez is deep in training for
his upcoming challenge of undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion and Son of the Legend,
JULIO CÉSAR CHÁVEZ, JR. (46-0-1, 32 KOs), of México.

"This past weekend Sergio received threats from an unknown source and the car in front of his home was
vandalized," said Lou DiBella, Martínez's promoter. "Unfortunately, until we have a security team in place, we are
going to have to suspend any and all public and media appearances for Sergio, including the upcoming media day
scheduled for tomorrow in Oxnard. We apologize for the inconvenience to the media and fans that have planned on attending tomorrow's event"

I'm a big Martinez fan but I think JCC is taking him down.

Dude has proven he has a granite chin and has been looking more and more dominant in his last few fights. Sergio also has a tendency to get gassed in the middle to later rounds and I can see Chavez walking this guy down come the 8th or 9th and just beating that drum.

Should be a good fight.
