:stopitslime: When the fight was created it was looked at like a dangerous fight for Floyd, Floyd cruises to a UD like he always does and things like "in retrospect" always come up.

Shane coming off the Margarito victory>>Anyone at the time of the Super Six aside from Ward, hell some would even say including Ward at the time.

That "in retrospect" is a cop out.

edit- I don't want this to come across like I dislike Ward, I like him a lot and his style reminds me of my favorite fighter ever B Hop.

I understand what you're saying. I just think the Margarito fight fooled fans into thinking Mosley was back when in reality (at least in my opinion) he just beat a fellow fighter who was on the downturn in Margarito.

Let me also say I think Floyd doesn't get nearly enough credit for his win over Cotto. Only fighter I would rank over Cotto that Ward has beaten is maybe Dawson and that's still debatable to me. Cotto had only lost to Pac and Margarito beforehand and with all the controversy that followed that loss to Margarito will always have a * to me.

Like I said though, I got no prob with people ranking Floyd #1 really. I just think Ward has earned it now. I totally get the Bernard Hopkins comparison too. Bernard Hopkins imo is the Ric Flair of Boxing. He's the dirtiest player in the game and he ain't ever gonna retire. :heh: I remember when he lost to Jermain Taylor and people were finally ready to write him off as :flabbynsick: That was 7 years ago and he's still a championship level fighter :gladbron:

I think that win was overrated in retrospect. Imo Mosley was already past it and the performance against Margarito was kind of an aberration.

Just watched the fight for a 2nd time, this time with better quality

Martinez is more skilled then i gave him credit for, im not as high tonight as i was last night so i noticed a few more things. Martinez constantly won the battle of their feet, keeping his lead foot outside of Chavez's and staying away from Chavez's right hand. He did a great job moving in and out, counter punching and pot shotting the shyt out of chavez. It helped though that Chavez didnt fight the right fight, he needed to not just apply pressure but smother Martinez and throw alot more punches. As lopsided as the scoring was I would watch a rematch and if Chavez Jr fights smarter and from the beginning of the fight he could win. Its not really right tho that he gets away with fightin as a cruiserweight. Im convinced that Martinez woulda been Ko'd had he been hit with more punches earlier in the fight. I know he showed alotta heart gettin up and fightin off Chavez, that was one of the GOAT moments. But he still didnt have much left. On the contrary i should consider the head butt that caused the cut near Sergio's eye to get worse, the head butt that caused Sergio to bleed from his scalp, and the leg injury Sergio had. I couldnt figure out when the injury occured or how

I'm still :wtf: about that knee injury. This dude was bouncing on his toes for 11 rounds straight and barely got touched. If the knee injury happened before the 12th then  to Sergio

Arum Eyes Chavez-Martinez Rematch at Cowboys Stadium - Boxing News
By Ryan Burton

Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas, NV - Shortly after Sergio Martinez's unanimous decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Top Rank CEO Bob Arum revealed that he received a call from Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones who said that he was interested in hosting a rematch between the two fighters at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

"After the fight I received a phone call from Jerry Jones who said that he wants the rematch at Cowboys Stadium. We will pack 100,000 people in the stadium next year," Arum stated.

Martinez was cruising to an easy unanimous decision victory when he was caught and dropped by Chavez in the last round. A wobbly Martinez rose to his feet and was able to make it to the final bell.

those punches were landing on martinez in the fight and they werent damaging him. watch the kd again he gets hit but grabs chavez and just sort of falls over while trying to hold on. he never gets put down by a punch.

if you watch it without the hbo commentary, you will see that he was more tired than hurt. somebody said fools gold, thats exactly what that was.

chavez jr def doesnt deserve a rematch no matter what happened in the 12th...had he fought all out throughout the whole fight like he did in the 12th then i would have been down...but fukk it this should be a hard lesson to him....he also better pray he doesn't face someone at middle, if he stays there, who can punch above his weight any time soon..but then if he goes to 168...his slow handspeed and lack of footwork will make him food there..dude will be finished for real

chavez will fight more aggressively in the rematch with sergio but fighting so cautiously is the only thing that saved him from getting dominated in a more brutal way this time. i predict a ko for martinez when they fight again, or a first half where chavez is hit much more, then passively chooses to give the rest of the fight away by not pressuring again.

the wild card in the middleweight division is gennady golovkin. i think the only fighter that can beat him is martinez. he would stop chavez in a devastating way. the biggest fight is martinez golovkin but we probably wont ever see it

yea that's what I been sayin. chavez wasn't fighting more defensive just because martinez's style, he was fighting like that because he was getting hurt by sergio. there was one moment where I thought sergio was gonna stop him...when chavez started back pedaling and going to the ropes...looked like chavez was ready to quit. just looking at his face after the fight, dude took some serious punishment. he opens up more, it's only gonna be worse.

yeah, that was like the 7th or 8th round, iirc. Chavez was on the ropes and even wobbled. I thought he was going down too.

a rematch would be the same way, and if Chavez tried to get more aggressive Sergio would just counter him to death.

Is it safe to say Latin America has just about taken over the sport of boxing?

No hate, their fights are almost always entertaining. But I'm starting notice less and less black fighters that are in contention, now more then ever.

- Who cares if no one wants a rematch. Even if Martinez won 12-0 and didn't get hurt once, he'd still want the rematch. This is still easily his most lucrative payday except now he has the upper hand in negotiations.

- lol @ any commentary about Roach though, how dare he not be able to completely transform a guy who's fought 50 fights the same exact way against smaller opponents and who didnt wanna listen to him

- also if anyone finds any good atmosphere vids please post them up

Finally watched the Alvarez vs Lopez fight

Officially a fan of Canelo, I love his style. Dem body shots :gladbron:

Lopez needs some respect tho. you could tell he didn't want to be there mentally after the second knockdown but he his heart wouldn't let him. If Victor Ortiz was in that same position it wouldve ended in the 3rd round.
