Nacho: Juan Manuel Marquez Has Not Retired, Wants To Fight

By Ernesto Castellanos, notifight.com

According to veteran trainer Nacho Beristain, former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez does not retired and the boxer has a planned goal to do three more fights before hanging up the gloves for good.

Nacho had recently spoken with Marquez, and he said that even though he was 43 years old, he feels fully capable of continuing his career and even has the support of doctors.

Marquez told the trainer that his inactivity was due to an injury that he had been dealing with in one knee, but now the knee in question has been totally restored, and he's once again ready to fight.

Marquez explained to Nacho that at the moment he is running near his house, and that he will start training at the gym as soon as something is completed.

Beristáin rejected the idea that Marquez has been out of the ring because the American television networks are not really interested in his comeback.

"On the contrary, he's one of the stars of boxing. Juan is one of those fighters who receive the better television numbers. [Getting on American TV] is no problem," said Nacho, who will begin training Marquez in the Romanza Gym once a fight is finalized.

Márquez, who was born on August 23, 1973 in Mexico City, has a professional record of 56 wins, 7 losses and a draw - and 40 knockouts. Juan Manuel's last match was held on May 17, 2014 at The Los Angeles Forum, where he beat Mike Alvarado on points in a match where the WBO International welterweight title was at stake.

Before that match, Juan had lost a decision to Timothy Bradley and had spectacularly knocked out Manny Pacquiao in their fourth encounter on December 8, 2012.

"Juan is very excited to fight," added Nacho.

In a small bit of news, Rodrigo "Gato" Guerrero said that he has ended his relationship with Zanfer Promotions, and will now fight for Golden Boy, who promised him four fights, including one for an NABF title and a WBC bantamweight title match.

Rosado says quillen punches harder than ggg...:jbhmm:

keepin it real, gabe took a shyt load of shots from little g and stood toe to toe with him the whole way....and he busted him up good as well. I think he's probably being honest. I've always said I don't think little g has crazy power. he's always knocked guys out from accumulation. he's not out here one punching anybody. it's just that most of his opponents have been bums with no head movement. even cotto knocked out geale more impressively. he punches hard but the media exaggerates it.

I don't remember Rosado being competitive with GGG at all, besides a few counters here or there. nikka got his ass kicked from pillar to post.

GGG is reaching Floyd and Roy levels now with the whole "If a guy lands a couple of times, he's obviously doing good' steez. I expect boxers to land a few shots on elite talents. Its a part of the game.

Rosado been acting salty toward Golovkin in a minute... Idk exactly why
so I don't really believe this to be honest

because GGG ruined him..rosado made a terrible mistake/decision at a point of his career where he was in line to become a champion and it cost him his prime

that ruslan performance was just :snoop:

dude definitely peaked in the alvarado fight. He can't seem to get over on dudes that show any fraction of boxing ability.

and now im thinking the only reason why he beat mike was because mike prolly lost what was left of his prime in the second fight with rios (plus possible drug use after)...one of those pyrrhic victories

true story.

he was on a nice lil run, until GGG happened to that nikka.

Now he's another bitter Philly nikka with an L and a chip on his shoulder.

angulo knocked rosado out in 2 rounds before GGG whooped him...so based off the video and the logic rosado seems to be on..angulo punches harder than GGG and Quillin

thats sour grapes to me..he should be happy though...he made his money becoming a jobber to the stars, both in boxing and in hollywood :russ:
