Floyd Mayweather accused of cheating in Badou Jack-James DeGale draw

Trainer Jim McDonnell also believes his man should have won the fight, which eventually ended in a draw.

James DeGale's trainer Jim McDonnell has accused Floyd Mayweather J of 'illegal' tricks during the Briton's draw with Badou Jack, claiming the former five-division world champion was checking the scorecards between rounds.

The 56-year-old, who was once a world title challenger, is adamant his man deserved to win in New York. One judge felt the Londoner was the victor with a score of 114-112 whilst the other two deemed it a draw at 113-113, meaning both men retained their super-middleweight titles.

The result has left DeGale's trainer aggrieved, and he has suggested that Mayweather - who is mentoring the Swedish fighter - was trying to influence officials throughout the fight. "One of the things that I need to double-check is that I was told that Mayweather was checking the scorecards off the judges in-between rounds, to me that's illegal," he complained.

"But he was trying to say to Badou Jack after one of the rounds, 'man, you're one down, you gotta' win the next round," the former featherweight and super-featherweight alleged.

The trainer was also unhappy with the way Jack's corner behaved before the fight. He claims that members of Mayweather's team attempted to ban DeGale's entourage from reaching their corner of the ring. "I'm thinking, you're on a Mayweather bill in America, against an American-based fighter with three American judges. James DeGale showed great mental strength and he won that fight for me," McDonnell added.

Immediately after the fight, DeGale demanded a rematch on home soil, as he looks to unify the IBF and WBC titles following the stalemate in the Big Apple. It is unlikely however that the pair will fight again, with Jack set to move up weight divisions after relinquishing his WBC crown.

That's hilarious. DeGales trainer ran out and grabbed his mouthpiece which should have got him DQ'ed the 2nd time and points taken the first.

Barrera Feels Critics Have Been Too Harsh With Canelo, Chavez Jr.

By Miguel Rivera

Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera believes the critics have been too harsh with his countrymen, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Canelo and Chavez are scheduled to fight each other on May 6th, in the headliner of an HBO Pay-Per-View event. A catch-weight of 164.5-pounds is in place for the contest.

Chavez Jr. has been a target of the critics for a long time, due to improper training habits, lackluster performances and his inability to control his weight. All of these bad habits are magnified because he's the son of the man who Mexican fans consider to be the greatest fighter in the history of the country, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.

For his part, Canelo has been highly criticized for the last twelve months over his selection of opponents and several calculated moves to delay a mega-fight with middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

"The critics have been unfair [to them] for doing things that [the critics] believe they are doing things that they shouldn't be doing. [Julio] is the son of the legend, but he is doing his own thing. And Canelo has shown that he is great, defends well, connects well with his punches and leaves with the arm raised," Barrera said.

"Julio has a lot of pressure on his back, because he has the name of the father. We would like to see him as the father, but we must remember that [the son] is not always the same as the father, but he is a great fighter. I enjoy what he does, I like his style... it's very Mexican and he is creating his own road, his own career."

"Canelo is an extraordinary fighter, a young man who brings charisma. I think the fans are critical because they don't see him as the traditional Mexican fighter that we're used to seeing, the king that comes right out there to trade punches when the bell rings. He is a cerebral fighter, he likes to use the ring, counter-attack, he's a warrior."

So basically a couple more weeks for Kell to throw Khan Hailmarys
:hhh: Get off your knees breh

And what bums at 154 he gonna take on

I can almost guarantee if Canelo move up it will be Brook vs the winner of Liam Smith vs Liam Williams... Domestic fight... :yeshrug: Then he's gonna keep that belt as hostage as long as he can or a long as he finds a big money fight.

Idk if he fight Spence first or not though, maybe he will be proven too proud to leave that IBF belt especially now that voices about him not wanting it with Spence got louder but otherwise if it wasn't for the incoming backlash he would just move straight to 154 ad wouldn't take a possible (it would be probably 50-50 in the odds) defeat for less money then what he wants to ear in the future.
It's a different thing to go into future negotiation with being able to say that you only loss came from the middleweight kingpin than going into the negotiations with having a loss against someone from your old, smaller weightclass. Plus the fact that he would be Spence coming out party if Spence would beat him. Against Golovkin he could take the "ballsy hero" role even in a loss, if he would lose convincingly to Spence then there Spence would be the celebrated young champion and people would care less about Brook.

I truly don't know whether he will take it or not.

Oscar De La Hoya Arrested For DUI in California

By TMZ Sports

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya was arrested for DUI in Pasadena, CA Tuesday night ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us the 43-year-old was pulled over for speeding in a Land Rover around 2 AM and during the stop, officers suspected he was drunk.

Earlier in the evening, Oscar was seen at multiple bars in the area, including Barney's Beanery in Old Town Pasadena where he posed for a pic with a fan.

We're told Oscar bombed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. He was cited and released to his manager.

Oscar has struggled with substance abuse for years -- and has been to rehab for alcohol and drug issues in the past.

De La Hoya first admitted in 2011 that he was an alcoholic and drug user. In September of 2013 he admitted himself to a treatment facility.

The move came on the eve of the biggest fight of the year for his promotion company, Golden Boy Promotions, between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez.

De La Hoya, a former 10-time world champion and 1992 Olympic gold medalist, retired shortly after Manny Pacquiao defeated him in 2008.

Messages seeking comment from his representatives were not immediately returned Wednesday.

No he won't, Andrade is 1st in line for the WBO Junior Middleweight Championship.

If that title becomes vacant, someone would have to face Andrade for the belt.
