Juan Manuel Lopez vs. Vazquez's Trainer - Fight Set For March 17!

By Miguel Rivera

Last October, a media frenzy was created from the aftermath of the wild scene post-fight at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

That night, a Puerto Rican grudge match that was years in the making had finally taken place, when Juan Manuel 'Juanma' Lopez (35-5, 32 KOs) and Wilfredo 'Papito' Vazquez Jr. snapped their respective retirements to fight each other.

In what was a close fight - in the ring and on the official scorecards - Juanma exploded in the eleventh round by dropping and then stopped Vasquez Jr. for the satisfying win.

Right after the conclusion of that fight, Juanma over to Vazquez's corner and began trading punches with his rival's trainer, Albert "El Entrenadorcito" Rivera. The two men had exchanged several hard punches before they were separated. The videos of the incident went viral and generated millions of views all over the world.

Afterwards, both men were fined and suffered suspensions from the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission.

There was still some bad blood remaining, because both of them claimed victory in their brief but dramatic post-fight brawl.

Now they will settle their dispute in the ring. Because of their suspensions and Rivera's status as a trainer - the two of them will collide in an "exhibition" match with all of the proceeds going to charity.

The fight is scheduled for March 17th at the Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. The event will include many other exhibition fights where high profile former world champions, Olympians and many others will face well known artists and celebrities. There will also be live music and other forms of family entertainment.

Tickets are already on sale and are available at fangig.com and gustazos.com.

but also breazeale was incredibly out of shape for that fight..he was rocked over and over by those wild ass telegraphed punches...it wasn't skill that won him that fight..he just managed to outlast Izu..thats where i was saying lucky..make no mistake i am disappointed at Izu gassing out like that and his conditioning but even with that he had breazeale ready to go in that fight

@cmvegeta

I feel where you coming from, but I can't say Breazeale was lucky because he was tougher and had more heart. Those are two important tangibles that were there for him when everything else failed. Hell, if Ortiz was tougher and had more heart he'd prolly be an elite fighter :mjlol:. Skills ain't everything, but its the intangibles that enhance those skills.

Izu definitely looked the better fighter, but even when gassed he should have displayed better defense and survival skills. I think his lack of experience of being in that position before cost him more than anything. Breazeale had the Mansour and Joshua fights to dig from.

Last time I read an article that the WB ad WBC want to work together possibly naming common mandatories and etc... this would be a good start of that. Peterson vs Porter/Berto. I'd definitely watch

PED wanted no parts of the WBC testing N dropped out they rankings

I wonder how tf he expects to fight for that belt then :jbhmm:
