De La Hoya has offered Golovkin $15 million but said he is taking that offer off the table and "thinking about doing a percentage split to get the fight done."

That would placate Golovkin and also shield De La Hoya from having to pay out $15 million, even if the fight does not perform as well as he hopes.

Lomachenko, who felt Golovkin did more than enough to beat Jacobs last weekend, explained his criteria for recognizing GGG as the top fighter in the sport.

"My opinion, first you need to fight with the top guys. Second, you need to have very, very good boxing skills. And of course, you need to have a title," Lomachenko said to BoxingScene.com.

Lomachenko says Andre Ward is not part of his top five. Ward defeated Kovalev last November by a close points decision to capture the IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight titles. Lomachenko felt Kovalev was robbed in the fight, and there were many others who also felt the scorecards were controversial.
