Most people who go to fights in UK ain't even boxing fans. Just groups of lads who treat it as a pre drinking event before they hit the clubs :russ:

Same reason thousands show up to watch two people throwing darts :dead:

It's more to do with the drinking and night out culture than it is to do with boxing fans.
IDK why that shyt doesn't happen in the US though. It's not like y'all don't have night clubs and drugs and entertainment.

US is less on that nationalistic wave whether you take the positive or negative meaning of the word.
Smaller (relatively to giants like the USA or China) countries usually are more nationalistic and that means they will back the home fighter with a bigger chance.
I'm not sure but I also think the UK is a little less divided by race conflicts than the US.

plus: Brits are also big sport fans, they have the money to buy tickets, they have a live scene and a quite professional promotion for it. All these lucky factors results that they are the live gate heaven of boxing right now. Viewership, therefor money wise USA still reigns but as far as live gates I'd bet the UK is at the top.

in the USA people's concentration is also very divided cause there are many popular sports. In Britain football reigns supreme but other than that... :yeshrug: I guess cricket is poplar among Pakistanis and Indians but that's all.

not sure though... @NoMyNameIs... can tell this better I guess

If I'm Bob Al or Lou I'm doing the exact same thing Oscar and Floyd are doing. I'm putting my fighters in fights in England, winnable fights, but have them go over there for a stretch of 3-4 and build a UK base........they love boxing. The fact there's not a Top Rank UK or Golden Boy UK is laughable.

Does this look familiar to you? Think Ricky hatton weigh ins. The sport is irrelevant. It's all about the night out culture.

Majority of people in England do nothing in the week except work and come home. So on the weekend damn near everybody is drinking and going out in big groups. It's just the English culture. They really could give a fukk who's fighting it's not about supporting their fighters really.

That's typically the same in the US unless you live in a major urban environment.

I just hope they step up their level of fighters a little cause if they don't, the popularity will decrease.

There are plenty of British champions but the only ones who can make a solid case for being the best in their division are Joshua (we will see in April), Brook (in May), DeGale and Frampton (rubber match will decide) I think these four are the true faces of UK boxing right now, other than them they have solid guys but not top level fighters as champions, like Flanagan, Bellew, Selby, BJS, Burns...
Ohara Davies looks like a promising prospect though
I'm on the fence with Callum Smith, I think he is god but fights too conservative and he reacts bad when he gets hit, I'm also on the fence with Eubank Jr. I didn't really like his last performance though
Groves, Quigg, Liam Smith, Crolla, Whyte, Chisora, Stephen Smith... these are all solid guys varying on different levels but not top guys

Overall they have a live scene and some good fighters I just hope it stays like that and we get more fighters like the first four mentioned

UK fighters usually have crazy social media following tho... so some people must still support them or idk... US fighters usually don't have that many followers

this is why im still :mindblown: at the shortsightedness of why floyd vs brook in england did not happen after the pacquiao fight..there was an unification angle that you could have used, england actually loves floyd, floyd never fought overseas, rabid fans, brook was also an undefeated champion...this shyt would have been better in every way than seeing floyd vs berto

Except binge drinking is not the major staple in your culture. Alcohol is the thing to do here. I don't know how to explain but if you seen how much the average person drinks on a night out here you would be disgusted :pachaha:
