I'm Canelo Cartel all day but at least half of those names are a stretch. He would have been better off only mentioning Mayweather, Trout, Lara and Cotto. With the latter 3 wins he has an obviously better resume than Golovkin, mentioning those other guys isn't necessary.

I think you're under-estimating how much hype this fight has. it's going to attract people from every demographic. it's not because little g himself has 500k worth of drawing power, but because the world knows this fight is going to be great. two p4p stars with exciting styles. after the disappointment of floyd-pac, people are clamoring for a true mega fight that lives up to the hype. canelo will bring every mexican fan in the country....hardcore and casual. floyd's last fight barely did 350k but if he fought little g it would do well over 1 mil too. people just wanna see the superstars in there with great fighters. people will tune in simply because they know canelo can actually lose. this isn't gonna be a fight with much running around....both guys love to exchange and both guys got big time power. enough to hurt eachother. there's a great chance this fight ends in KO....at the very least both guys will be bloodied up. this shyt will do massive numbers. especially if the promotion is on point.

I hope you're right, that'd be good for boxing. Hopefully they play this joint in the movies as well.

Sure he would've fought Povetkin who was his mandatory.

You cant ask "who has he fought since winning the belt" when you have Champions blantantly turning him down after he calls them out or get caught using PEDs to cheat in order to face him

Exactly what I have been saying. GGG's solo PPV numbers aside, people know this is a great fight and you can tell the interest is there. We got into debates and bout the Mexican fan base being splintered between Canelo and JCC, after last weekend Canelo may have just picked up more of that fan base and at least probably has them wanting to see him in against a good opponent. Plus add in this fight I think may pick up more of the casual/white/MMA demographic and the PPV should do very well.

If Canelo-JCC did 1 million . I in think that sets up the GGG fight well, despite the JCC being bad. It showed the drawing power of a good matchup and with this fight I think people won't feel like they will get finessed with the final product, they know Canelo and GGG consistently put on good shows (although I think this fight will be tactical action and not all out war that the casuals will expect).

After Canelo-JCC numbers and Joshua-Klitschko PPV and mega fights will have had action bit of a resurgence. Sets up well for a Joshua-Klitschko rematch, Joshua-Wilder , if GGG wins we will likely get a rematch, if Canelo wins his star rises even higher. Maybe after Horn, Manny realizes he needs a big fight and does Broner, Crawford, Garcia. Boxing is looking good right now.

The same Briggs that Wilder was calling out not too long ago .

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) says he’d like to defend his WBC title next month on January 16th against 44-year-old #5 WBA Shannon Briggs (59-6-1, 52 KOs) if he’s willing to accept the money offer for the fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Wilder, 6’7”, was recently disappointed when the opponent that he wanted to fight on 1/16, #3 WBC Vyacheslav Glazkov, jumped ship and decided he preferred to go after the IBF heavyweight title that was recently won by Britain’s Tyson Fury.


With Glazkov out of the running for his fight next month, Wilder and his promoters and adviser do not have much time to find a talented replacement by next month. That’s where someone like Briggs could come in to save the day if a fight between him and Deontay can be successfully negotiated in just one month.

Deontay Wilder has told Tyson Fury he is prepared to fight him in England and unify their heavyweight belts if the Briton wins his rematch bout with Wladimir Klitschko.

Undefeated WBC champion Wilder was confronted in the ring by Fury after taking his record to 36-0 with victory over Artur Szpilka in Brooklyn last month.

Fury has to meet Klitschko again after the Ukrainian invoked his rematch clause having lost his WBA, IBF and WBO belts in November, but Wilder has his sights set on facing whoever emerges victorious from that contest after his mandatory clash with Alexander Povetkin, possibly in April.

And the 30-year-old would be willing to venture on to Fury's own patch to make it happen.

"When he got in the ring I told him I'll come to his backyard and I mean that," he said in an appearance at Super Bowl 50's Radio Row in San Francisco.

"I'm willing to come over there. If he wins, I'm willing to come over there to take the titles. I'm very comfortable with England -- I've got a lot of friends, a ton of fans.

"I feel that when they say heavyweight champion of the world -- that's a world traveller, not just in your home country. When my legacy's over and done, I want to be labelled as someone who went behind enemy lines, fought everybody and had great exciting fights every time I came back."

Wilder insists he was unperturbed by Fury's antics last month and believes it could help hype up the heavyweight ranks once again.

"A lot of people didn't like -- a lot of media have been asking me, 'Was it disrespectful that he did it?'," he added.

"I'm laid back, I'm easy going, I'm all about unifying the heavyweight division, bringing the excitement back. It wasn't disrespectful to me, I knew what he was doing. It was entertaining for boxing and excitement for the fans, but I do find it was disrespectful for my opponent."

Wilder has recorded a knock-out win in 35 of his 36 bouts and has his sights set on taking the IBF title off Charles Martin if Fury and Klitschko continues to dither over a date.

However, the ultimate goal remains a unification of the belts, which he believes will help restore the heavyweight division's prestige.

"I'm looking to do remarkable things in boxing, looking to bring it back like it once was, even better," Wilder said.

"I think I can do it, I can see it happening, feel it happening as I've described it. I will make it happen, I will be remembered as the man who brought boxing back single handedly."

Mexican legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. didn't pull any punches when it came to analyzing his son's performance on Saturday against Canelo Alvarez. Putting it as simply as possible, Chavez explained his mindset, " I am very disappointed."



In their pay-per-view showdown from Las Vegas, Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) pitched a shutout on all three scorecards against a lifeless and uninterested Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs). Chavez's Hall of Fame father broke down the match Monday on ESPN Deportes, refusing to use the fact that Chavez Jr. was forced to cut down to the 164.5-pound catchweight as an excuse.





" No, no, no, no. Definitively no,

" Chavez Sr. said about the weight's impact. "It's true, there is a sacrifice and everything, but I think here Julio lacked that thing that his father had more than enough of."





That "thing" in question was heart, and Chavez Sr. was most upset with his son for not once emptying the tank and attacking Alvarez while being willing to potentially go out on his sword.





"Yes, that's the truth. He was too much of a conformist," Chavez Sr. said. "I was asking him to throw more punches. That if he lost ... that if he got knocked out that he gift me a f------ round! That he gift me a f------ round throwing punches! I couldn't make him understand!"






Chavez Sr. went on to admit he would have respected his son more for getting knocked out by Alvarez than losing in such a passive manner.

"When you are in the ring and you feel that your body is not responding, that you aren't doing any damage, you feel that the punches are hurting you, that you are weak, the only thing you try is to survive," he said. "And that's what Julio did, he tried to survive and that Canelo didn't knock him out in an embarrassing way. That was Julio's fight. His body was not responding; he could not ask anymore of his body."
