The next fight of the former two-division world champion Juan Manuel Lopez (32-2, 29 KOs) will be held in late April in the U.S. and if all goes well his following fight could be between August and September, possibly against Nonito Donaire, announced Ivan Rivera, president of PR Best Boxing Promotions. “We want to fight in late April in a ten-rounder in America at 128 to prepare for a big fight in August or September with a fighter of renown. Donaire sounds good at 126 but he (Juanma) has to check his body to see if it’s possible to do it if there’s a good purse. He said he’ll fight at 130 but if you get a good deal at 126, all of us should sacrifice and work.”

“Donaire has to win (against Guillermo Rigondeaux on April 13) and has said that after he wants to go to 126. There is no doubt a bout with Donaire would be huge and do economically well. The weight would split the difference. The two have said repeatedly that they would like to fight and is rather hard because Donaire is one of the three best fighters pound-for-pound. That;s wy we want to stay active. He’s preparing for that date in April to set himself up to get back where he was.”

Puerto Rico’s own Hector Camacho Jr. (54-5, 29 KOs) takes on the Mexican Legend Jose Luis Castillo (65-12-55 KOs) in a crossroads battle on May 2nd. Promoter Zef Ramirez of Zeferino Entertainment informed FightNews that the potential location is El Paso, Texas during the Cinco De Mayo weekend.
