Ann Wolfe is the essence of what the sport is about. She had nothing. She started boxing to make a better way. The most money she made during her career was 30k. Absolute robbery. Beterbiev admitted himself that "he got lucky" in the post fight interview. Everyone, and I mean everyone thought Bivol would get stopped in 6 rounds. Then when that didn't happen, they had to double back and say "Bu bu bu Beterbiev outboxed Bivol", which they knew was impossible

That's why I don't want to see a useless trilogy. Bivol already outclassed Beterbiev 2 fights in a row

Beterbiev's own coaches/trainers were resigned to a loss and even said so. I mean if that doesn't say anything then what are we even talking about really? His own coaches!

Nah, I didn't think Beterbiev would stop him, Beterbiev is a straight up and down boxer with exceptional punch stamina, force transfer and conditioning. Great boxers beat decent boxers more often than not, irrespective of power.

The only argument that can be mounted towards a Beterbev win is that the judges didn't see the power shots land on Beterbievs head, not because they didn't land perfectly, but because his chin/neck keeps them from being as noticeable as say a novice who gets hit flush and has a bobble head eg (Serrano, Cobbs, McGregor) etc. That and Bivol was edged in the last round. Not for the win though, it's gotta be a draw or a Bivol win.

But wasn't she beating the shyt out of Kirkland in camp and not really training him? That was the story going around. Just sorta abusing him on some damaged human vengeance type shyt? Great conditioning, but more sadistic than sports specific, pugilist preparation.

Kirkland ran the gauntlet against Canelo and it failed, he had a lot of balls as a fighter, he was all chips in, scary shyt in the pros, not for the faint of heart.

To this day Canelo says the Kirkland fight was his hardest opponent. Says it all the time even.

Kirkland had no chin. The only way to counter that is to be in extreme shape. A guy like Kirkland can’t take shortcuts in training with a chin like that. Ann knew that, and made sure to train his mind, body, and soul, in every way.

Tbh I think it was as much to do with leaving his chin so exposed, he put himself right in the firing line, that's why I liked him tbh, crazy balls.

Look I see your point re conditioning / Wolf / Kirkland, but there was more to it, she treated him like a bag of meat and it affected his mental preparation more than it should have.

That's why he gave her the flick. Was it the right move? Probably not, but only those two know how the working relationship was.

Look at that maniac Atlas for example, every fighter he's ever trained has flicked him off after one or two fights, hard person to work with.

I remember hearing that Lubin's team was pissed that he took this fight because they knew he wasn't ready. Also I know there were alot of people who were mad that he turned pro so quick instead of going to the Olympics, because he had a real shot at going Gold. this is what i remember. she was like Bud mom on a 100. just mentally and physically abusing dude taking him to these dark places so that the actual fight would be easy. but at what cost. Would be interesting to hear Kirkland perspective on it now
