40 year old nearly got sent to his death

No wonder Zurdo pretends Jai Opetaia doesn't exist

I watched the fight highlights, dude had alot of heart and was doing pretty decent in the fight. At 40, this might be a sign to retire and hang up the gloves

One of my favorite fighters of all time so allow me to give some history.

The Lone Star Cobra. 1980 Olympian who didnt get to compete due to boycott or he would have been a bigger star entering the pros. He was right behind SRL and the 76 team. I was 14 years old when this fight happened. Curry was my favorite fighter at that time and recognized as the p4p king. He was already my favorite fighter before this fight but this was the culmination and it was honestly his plateau fight.

Curry was a mess outside of the ring. A lot of personal and management issues and on top of that had poor training camps. Curry was the first undisputed ww champ of the 3 belt era. After this fight, Curry was set to move up two divisions and challenge Marvin Hagler for the MW title. Curry was struggling to make weight and was set to move up to fight Marvin Hagler for the MW crown. When that deal could not be worked out, he was offered to face Mike McCallum at 154lbs. SRL and Mike Trainer (Leonard's manager) advised Curry to stay at WW. Curry declined the McCallum fight and defended his titles against Lloyd Honeyghan and lost. Subsequently, Leonard came out of retirement to face Hagler. Curry sued Leonard and his manager for bad advice.....he moved up to face McCallum and was leading the scorecards when he was KOed with one punch. Leonard was working ringside and had a particularly glaring gloat when Curry was knocked out because Curry had tried to get Leonard removed from the broadcast team. Curry was able to win another title at 154 and is a HOFer but he was washed by the time he was 31. He was wrapped up in a cocaine conspiracy ring but subsequently acquitted but repeatedly jailed for child support.

Curry tried his hand as a manager/trainer of prospect Emmitt Linton, they fell out and started beefing over Linton allegedly giving Curry's bm information on his finances and it came to a head and guns were drawn. In 1997 at 36 years old, Curry returned to the ring to face his former protege Linton and was beaten badly, it was his last fight.

Curry from the Dallas/Fort Worth area could be seen in the early 80's rocking the hairstyle that is popular now in the Dallas/Forth Worth area....."The Shag"

Reports from his son is that he is now homeless and lives out of a hotel and suffers from serious memory and neurological issues. Which further shines a light on the WBC's claim that they take care of former fighters....much less HOFers like Curry.

Basically this is what I think what happened

The WBC president did not expect Crawford to beat Canelo. The plan was to have Canelo beat Crawford, then Canelo to face Hamzah Sheeraz as a WBC mandatory

Crawford f*cked up that plan lol. So now this is the WBC president's get back
Crawford needs to stay up there since he thinks he can fukk everyone up :sas2: :beli:
