he was an average fighter at best..he got his belts took by former middleweight champs...the last time that happened was in the 1890s...he was struggle

they werent just any middleweights though. not even any HOFers. he literally lost to atg's. nah, he was definitely above average. he lost to no bums. he beat Holyfield and Rahman. he beat some top 10 contenders like Golota, Oquendo, Kirk Johnson, McCline. I dont see the shame in losing to a giant like Valuez or an accomplished and gifted fighter like Haye. He wasnt gatekeeper status, he was the gate. in his prime, if you were to beat him, you probably were going to be a champion of some sort.

I remember those struggle nights...I cannot romanticize that guy's career...he was death at the box office bro lol. You know what's funny is i thought he beat valuev..like clear as day both times but politics got that belt off him for good.

Vs Oquendo is literally one of the worst HW fights I ever watch..so much it ended in a mercy stoppage lol. And he lost to Golota IMO.

I was a McClellan fan. this guy was going to be a star. I watched that fight live and it was til this day the most gutwrenching, heartbreaking, foul-filled, rigged fight Iever seen. That ref was on some bullshyt. I did watch the documentary and it was always believed that Benn was up to something nefarious. That being said, G-Man was had some pre-existing stuff going on. It may have caught up to him later if not this fight.
If not for what happened with G-man it would be an ATG fight..its the most brutal fight ive ever seen at 168 to this day. But G-man sent Benn to the point of no return with what he did to him. He beat the fight and anger out of him. benn got his ass really beat by a 40 year old Malinga the year after and lost his coordination and punch resistance badly.

because Ryan has to be the biggest payday out there and definitely compared to risk/reward. what is a bigger fight that is not as tough?

I like Zepeda's chances against Roach. Roach style matches well with Tank but he can get outworked. Most of these guys pissing away their opportunities looking for cherry-picks. All these guys are talk. Looks like Mason is the future of 135.

I rather Shakur go after big fights that naturally would come about. Going after Ryan seems manufactured. I don't want him to be another Haney where he flies too close to the sun trying to be a household name, and falls victim to Ryan Garcia's circus

Maybe he sees his big bro Bud not get his recognition until later in his career and wants the opposite. But Shakur should just chase legacy fights that will eventually turn into big fights. Him vs Abdullah Mason in 2 years would be a huge fight. A fight with Gary Antoine Russell would be big. Shakur getting Undisputed and cleaning up 135 and 140 would matter more than chasing Ryang Garcia
