Absolutely. He's worked extremely hard to become champion, beating Bredis twice is/was less appreciated than he's been given credit for.

He's alienated himself from the sanctioning bodies, yet probably endeared himself further to Alishikh. Best case scenario he fights Benavidez after the Zurdo fight for the WBC (which might be complicated now), worst case he's castrated further by the traditional sanctioning bodies and campaigns against lesser lights at cruiserweight for Zuffa for the rest of his career.
