after the the disappointing numbers from the first fight, I really think floyd wants to put together an all around great card like they did with the canelo fight. mayweather-canelo had enough hype alone, but adding matthyse-garcia took that shyt to a whole nother level. it was an event that both the casuals and the die hards could rally behind. that's why I don't see broner fighting no damn judah. floyd gonna convince him to fight matthyse or somebody dangerous...even if it means he gets beaten to a pulp. floyd just cares about them numbers, and nobody gettin hyped for muthafukkin zab judah. you add broner-matthyse and the ppv is gettin 1.5 mil easy.

exactly...i wasnt thrilled about may-canelo though because i thought canelo wasn't ready..however garcia-matthysse and the fact carlos molina was getting a world title shot was the reason that ppv got my money...its funny to me how alot of were ppl hyped for may-maidana 1 ppv because of the names on the card and not the actual quality of the fights :russ:..patscorpio was right about not wasting money on that nonsense :umad:...a dangerous co main event fight for may-maidana 2 and that ppv gets my money..simple as that

damn. pwill last night, now you got me thinking about vernon forrest:wow:.....dude's talent level was insane. it's a shame he never reached his full potential. and it looked like he was finally putting those injuries in the past before he got his life taken. roger mayweather always said he woulda been floyd's toughest test.
the shoulder injuries cut his momentum down as did them losses to mayorga after the mosley fights...ill never understand why mayorga was able to trouble that nikka so much :patrice:

Adrien Broner will not be facing Lucas Matthysse on Sept. 13th
Written by Joseph Herron at Jul 09, 2014 - 11:07PM ET in News

Over the last several days, rumors have circulated throughout the boxing community concerning a potential meeting between three division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner and Junior Welterweight contender Lucas “The Machine” Matthysse in the co-main event of Floyd’s September 13th undercard.

While on the most recent edition of “Pugilist KOrner Radio”, head trainer Mike Stafford set the record straight, not only stating that rumors of an upcoming fight between his young 140 pound fighter and the Argentine puncher were false, but an appearance in a preliminary bout on Mayweather’s upcoming fight card was fabricated as well. “Adrien is a headliner,” stated the prolific boxing mentor. “He’s going to be topping his own card on September 6th. Right now there are a couple of names we’re thinking about, but none of the fighters that we‘re considering is Lucas Matthysse. Everyone in the social media always wants to choose Adrien’s opponents, but he has a manager and a trainer to help him with that decision.”

Broner’s previous performance was his Junior Welterweight debut against Carlos Molina on the undercard of Mayweather’s May 3rd event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in which he scored a unanimous decision victory.

While the entertaining and vocal boxing celebrity enjoyed the experienced of fighting alongside Floyd Mayweather Jr, billing the Cincinnati native as the main attraction is the direction Team Broner wishes to pursue. Although no site has officially been chosen to stage the 24 year old puncher’s September 6th feature, the astute trainer eludes to a possible homecoming in or around “The Queen City” of Cincinnati, Ohio, for his star fighter.

With the overwhelming success of Top Rank’s most recent event in Omaha, Nebraska, which pitted former Olympian Yuriorkis Gamboa with hometown favorite and current WBO Lightweight Champion Terence Crawford, the long overdue investment would most certainly be viewed as an intelligent one. “I’m just really thankful that Golden Boy Promotions will be staging a much needed homecoming for Adrien. It really means a lot to him.”

In his title losing effort to two division champ Marcos “El Chino” Maidana, one of the biggest names in the sport was ultimately featured and expected to defend his belt within the hostile confines of the world renowned Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on December 14th, 2013. Even though Maidana proudly hails from Argentina, the raucous crowd of over eleven thousand was overwhelmingly in favor of the title challenger. Not a very positive situation for one of boxing’s most widely recognized commodities.

“I think promoters are starting to see that it’s the best way to go. Staging fights away from a major fighter’s home base and merely hoping for the best doesn’t make very much sense,” observes Mike Stafford.

“We’re going into camp now in Washington D.C. with several fighters who will be featured on that card, including former Olympian Rau’shee Warren. All of the fighters on the card are hungry and want to make the most of their opportunity to shine in front of their supporters. We’re very thankful that Golden Boy Promotions and Al Haymon are putting them in a positive situation, and all of the local favorites want to take advantage of that.”

Broner against that Dierry Jean dude Peterson fought wouldn't be bad. It's not like dude got destroyed and he's still an athletic guy in his prime that will try to win. Dude also has decent speed and power.

It has to be a step up from the Molina's of the world.
