Greetings to fellow boxing fans
I'm just getting back from a long trip (a short trip from everyone else's perspective). I just got out of my delorean & believe it or not, I got a chance to travel to the year 2018. There, I got a chance to see what my family has been doing & how my life has turned out. Got online & immediately went to boxrec for selfish reasons, as I plan to gamble with this knowledge. I got a chance to see an article on the 168 lb kingpin Andre Ward.
I wanted to give you guys an update. As it turns out, his last fight took place on 11/16/13 against a guy named Edwin Rodriguez. Ward won this fight in a clear decision. He's still holding out for a big time PPV fight to take place in Oakland at his weight class of 168. Newer names have emerged at 160 & he is patiently waiting for these guys to move up in weight. He has no interest in going into 175, because he feels this will do nothing for his career. He's still with his powerhouse team consisting of manager J Prince & his promoter Dan Goosen.
As it turns out, guys like GGG & Froch, guys that never really had a style that would give a fighter any type of longevity, have moved on from the sport. Ward has continued waiting for a new opponent for these last few years.
Just wanted to give team SOG that status of the great Andre Ward in year 2018. He appreciates your dedication during the ups & downs of his career. I just wanted to set the proper expectations & to prepare you guys for years of inactivity.
