question: the tv ill be using this with doesnt have usb ports so do any of you know if it will still work if i plug it into the usb on my cable box or does it have to be the tv?

What did I say wrong sir? If you are streaming netflix from your phone to the chromecast, your phone is only acting as a go between with very minimal battery usage.

Google clarified that users who purchased Chromecast before the promotion ran out will still be able to redeem their Netflix promotion code for three free months of the video streaming service.
