The X-Men Stand Together in 'X-Men United'

This March, 'X-Men United,' a bold new ongoing X-Men series by Eve L. Ewing and Tiago Palma, reopens the door to the X-Men's school for mutantkind!

xmenunited_2026_cover.jpg

This March, the X-Men come together to build a new way for mutantkind to thrive in X-MEN UNITED! The previously-teased series, part of the line’s upcoming SHADOWS OF TOMORROW era, will be by written by Eve L. Ewing, following her acclaimed work on EXCEPTIONAL X-MEN, and drawn by Tiago Palma, the rising star who made his Marvel Comics debut earlier this year in NEW AVENGERS.

The ambitious series unites the entire X-tapestry—from different generations, factions, and eras—under one, eXciting initiative, turning the classic concept of a school for mutants on its head with the introduction of Graymatter Lane! Founded by Emma Frost and with faculty including Wolverine, Magneto, Beast, Rogue and Storm and guest instructors from throughout the Marvel Universe, Graymatter Lane is more than simply an academy—it's the central hub for mutant interaction across the world and beyond! This venture represents a bold undertaking that requires all hands on deck, but not all of the X-Men are ready to embrace the idea of another mutant institute for higher learning!

Clearly the post Krakoa era flopped so here we are with another new direction.....
I miss reading the X-men, but I just don't enjoy any of the ongoing series. I tried to jump back on with the Professor X series that they did (trash) and with this current Age of Revelation crossover (trash). I'll give this X-men United a try as well. Haven't really been a fan of Eve Ewing, but we will see.

They ran outta ideas and don't know what to do :mjlol:

Went from a sovereign-nation state with far reaching political influence, to now everyone back to working part-time at a boarding school :dead:

What are they even "teaching" at this point :skip:
That's why they shouldn't have bushed krakoa. It made the X-Men concept unreadable.

If they were going to bush the Krakoa idea, it should've been a longer run than the Krakoa Era itself :pachaha:

To "put the toys back in the box" they needed something just as impactful and that felt like a natural regression back. The latter being the more difficult part because, as opposed to Hickman's idea, the end of Krakoa couldn't feel like something out of nowhere and a complete new retcon. The concept of Krakoa was too big and powerful to erase it like it never happened so they should've waited for another big writer to pitch them a new long ass run to make it feel like a big sprawling story.

Now they are back to the era post Messiah Complex were no matter what they do with the mutants, it's gonna feel wack and repetitive.

I dont even think thats why it flopped. The creative direction was a tired trope that's been beaten to death.

if you're gonna retread a concept then it has to be done brilliantly. To further that point, the stories and characters were bland just like the direction.

You articulated my thoughts better than I could, but this is exactly how I feel.
Post Krakoa era was doomed to fail because there was no clear direction or natural progression to that new direction.

There should've been more fallout from the failed state idea. There was lots of story potential that either wasnt fully explored or was completely ignored.

The only thing the editors knew is that they wanted to move on and go back to mutants being feared and hated.

Once again if your gonna retread old ideas you have to atleast nail the execution of it. They failed miserably at that as well.

The transition to the new(old) era definitely wasn't helped by how janky and rushed the end of the Krakoan story line was either.

Of course it's bland..a Rogue/Cyclops feud? More Emma Frost? Odd stuff.

DC KO is so fun. The Superman vs Captain Atom issue was great. The preview art for the Joker vs Red Hood issue looks good too.

Marvel is beyond cooked. They are forcing Chip to write a big crossover (Armageddon) for the summer out of a pitch he had for his Captain America book, they are desperate as fukk :mjlol: I hope Chip can come up with something worth a damn, they are hyping it as a something on the level of Disassembled for the Avengers :bryan:

And after that they have nothing. Everything they announced at NYCC was met with a groan :dead:

Meanwhile, DC announced the team for Superman/Spiderman and it's Waid and Jimenez :wow:

Watch Marvel announce Bendis and Romita Jr :laff:
